Ah - if we are invited we will be back next year all things being equal...
Have you done any weathering?

Never done any weathering - eventhough I work in the commercial graphics industry !
Still in awe of people like Ian from Mercig and Chris from CJM. (both only do n gauge I believe).
Look forward to seeing you at Toddington next year I hope.

I am not currently aware of any accurate recording on the market - and IMHO a Western would be better than a Class 42 Warship from the engine/transmission point of view although horns from 42 are probably better - but watch this space....
A tip top weathering job? Personal preference - best to do it yourself, you can do it! Have you seen a photo you would like to replicate?

Thanks Phil - missed your layout at Toddington back in July

Colbard...it isn't a bonus to have a product advertised as a working model....that actually runs. It is the bare minimum that makes it 'fit for purpose' and saves the manufacturer from the trade description act. Work of art suggests static and hanging on the wall...now you're talking.
Richard...the difference is that you are warned before you order Ultrascale products of when you should expect delivery (of something that is fit for purpose)...it is then your choice as to whether you place an order. If Dapol had to list all of the potential problems with their products on the front of their loco boxes...then they wouldn't have any customers. As for paying £185 for something that does what it is supposed to do...then where is the problem? Paying £120 for something that doesn't, is a 100% waste of money.

Oh dear, has your wife run off, your kids nowhere to be seen, even the dog packing its bags?

...and supplying models which are only fit to shove in a glass case isn't an equal or greater waste of time??
If a company is going to manufacture/contract for working models...then that is exactly what they should be...not a half-baked excuse for the damn thing!!
Dave
For me they are works of art - having them run, light up , make sounds is a bonus. My girlfriend is an art collector - she acknowledges them as being such.

Hi all,
Received my D1068 from Kernow today - fantastic level of detail.
Would like to add dcc and sound chip to it - deep waters for me don't own any dcc system at the mo - advice/recommendations gratefully received.

Project 43 - The North British B-B Warships
in Bachmann
Posted
Hi all,
Just received my BR Blue 842 Warship which is now sitting next to my Dapol weathered BR Blue Western and I have to say I find it sadly lacking in comparison.
Level of refinement and detail pack doesn't seem to be on a par with the Dapol class 52.
No etched plates
The BR arrows are too thick
Most of the detail pack parts seem too thick
Essentially I'm an n gauge man but have a few OO gauge models for a diorama.
Why do Bachmann use those horrible couplings?
Looking for advice/ideas to upgrade it and hopefully make me feel pleased with my purchase
Thanks,
colbard
