  1. Do you have the Railtec reference for those set numbers? Can't find them on their website. Thanks in anticipation.
  2. Does anyone know the running numbers of the coaches that made up this set?
  3. I'd be interested in learning more about your experiences of removing the metal dome and safety valves? Like you I'm waiting on the corrected etches but haven't yet started on any of the other conversion work.
  4. Very conscious recent posts have hijacked Wayne's thread, but they are fascinating and maybe worthy of their own thread? Personally, I'd be very interested in knowing how these operating practices looked pre-nationalisation of both railways and the coal industry. For instance, I have a feeling, but no evidence, that shared Washeries may have been less common? Anyway, I always find a layout that follows authentic operating practices adds an extra dimension to my appreciation of that layout. But, back to the purpose of this thread, I'm looking forward to watching this layout develop.
  5. Beautifully observed modelling, full of atmosphere. I particularly like the wonky fencing and the texture of the roadway but my favourite is the fella paused at the door of the pub looking down at the cat. Superb. If I have one criticism it's the Austin / Morris traversing the level crossing which is a bit of a modelling cliche, but that's a very personal view. I'd love to see more of your work.
  6. Thanks Andy. Looking forward to the Cambrian layout.😁
  7. Railwells excellent as usual. I'm hoping Andy Cundick might read this thread. We had a very interesting conversation around his ex LNWR, ex Manchester and Milford now GWR DX goods which apparently spent some time in the Abergavenny area. I was wondering where that information came from?
  8. Isn't it good, Norwegian Wood... 😁
  9. Thank goodness 😁, Hatton's list them as Barry Railway Orange...
  10. A little off topic but as you reference them, I see the Barry Railway livery is described as "orange". Can I ask where you got your colour references from?
  11. Agree. A Cambrian loco would be very well received with a lot of rolling stock available to ride along behind it (albeit nothing RTR unless Hattons add the very attractive Cambrian livery to their future coach plans).
  12. Surprised there's been no reaction to this news, which I think is a really exciting development. If Dapol follow the same pattern of development here as they employed for their RTP signals then other company types will surely follow. Well done Dapol! Got my order in already. Now, how about 4mm scale?
  13. Thank you. I'm now going to spend an enjoyable hour or so going back to the start and rereading the thread with the benefit of your track plan.
  14. Have only now happened on this thread and am hooked. There is some delightfully understated modelling here. It's wonderful stuff. Is there any chance you can repost the track plan lost by the "great outtage"?
  15. I hope you will report progress here, I'd be interested in seeing it develop.
  16. I am a member of the SECR Society and despite the excellent resources available have also failed to answer the same question. From the very few period photos I've found, they seem to be one dark colour that looks to be dark grey / black but could be the reddish brown used by the SER and LCDR on its buildings. Unless I find evidence to the contrary, I'm going to use a very dark grey (like Maunsell wagon grey) but I'd be interested in hearing about your Plan B.
  17. I meant Welsh pits. My mainline modelling is of a much earlier period. In any event the deed is done and one in maroon is on order.
  18. Thanks, gwrrob. I was hoping for a Welsh connection. Perhaps, I should just accept that I can resist anything but temptation.
  19. 1501 worked at Coventry Colliery but does anyone know where 1502 or 1509 worked? I'm searching around for a reason to justify the NCB liveried model just ordered...
  20. My Manor, 7800 Torquay Manor in unlined GWR green with the GWR shirtbutton on the tender arrived on Saturday last but my first opportunity to test it was this evening. Like its stablemates, the Mogul and the Prairie before it, running was exemplary straight out of the box using a very basic Gaugemaster Combi controller. My test track includes reverse curves and crossovers all of which were taken in its stride. In fact, running was so good, I couldn't help double heading it with both the Mogul and Prairie and watching them glide through the pointwork was a joy. A careful examination of the model showed it to be in perfect order with none of the issues reported elsewhere on this forum. Dapol's packaging oozes quality. I have one minor criticism and that is the too shiny "brass" safety valve cover but then plated plastic will never look like the real thing. I'll tone it down with some Matt varnish, which worked very well on the Prairie. This is another cracking model from Dapol. Well done. And yes, I also have an Accurascale model on order. Can't have too much of a good thing...
  21. ...And like all previous Minerva locos ran beautifully straight out of the box. It weighs a ton and I think will have more haulage capacity than I am ever likely to need. Well worth the wait and extraordinary value for money IMHO. Need to get the books out now and spend a few enjoyable hours deciding which number to model.
  22. Round Robin note from Chris yesterday to say my Teddy was on it's way - I ordered when they were announced - and thanking everyone for their patience. It arrived this morning, no time to open it before work so looking forward to playing trains this evening.
  23. Now resolved though not clear how but in any event worth the wait. Magnificent video with 25 (26?) on around Little Bytham. Worth the subscription for that alone.
  24. Thanks, I have tried that and downloaded a "new" copy and whilst the page order has been corrected, the Hornby Duchess video still isn't playing. I've also tried to view it on my laptop using the Pocketmags App and it wouldn't play that way either. All the other videos play without issue. Can I ask, have you tried to play that video and did it work?
