  1. I have done away with the 6 pin male and female socket that connects the tender wires to the loco,re wired from motor and pick ups to the circuit board, still the same problem i therefore think the problem is with the circuit board.

Will try to obtain a new one and see if that solves it.

  2. Hi all i have a Bachmann Robinson 04 GWR Rod,the loco runs fine with the blanking plug in but when i put a 21 pin decoder in my Power Cab controller reads short circuit detected.

Anyone have any ideas what the problem may be.

    Thanks Bob

P.S. have tried 3 different chips.

  3. Further updates,

The loco runs fine on DC with the chip fitted.

On Dcc in CV50 i turned off the back emf and the loco ran smoother but struggled to negotiate bends.

With the back emf turned on the loco went round the bends o.k. but ran jerkily.

Is there anything else i can adjust to sort this problem out.

    Cheers

    Bob

  4. Hi all,i have a Bachmann St Edmund Hall fitted with a Lenz Silver mini decoder, the loco runs  fairly well but is still a bit jerky.

What CV numbers need to be adjusted to obtain smoother running,i am using an NCE Powercab controller.

Also i have read that CV 29 bit 3 adjucts the dc / dcc mode, how do i find bit 3.

    Thanks in advance

  5. Hi all, i have 2 Hornby 61xxs and both are poor runners stalling on points etc.

I believe they are derived from the old Airfix models and re motored by Hornby.

My question is has anyone found a way to get these locos to perform better.

    Cheers

    Bob

Meant to say Prarie tanks not Pannier.

  6. Well i removed the front bogie made no difference to the running, checked the back to back measurements and all the wheel pickups, removed the capcitor

this has still not resolved the problem.

Will have to try a different decoder if that dose not solve the problem then i will give up on this loco.

  7. Thanks for your reply, i have other sound fitted locos most are not TTS they are all ok.

I also have a TTS Duke of Gloucester and this runs o k  through the points at slow speed.

I don't have a multimeter  and the pick ups look o k but i will dismantle the loco and check them.

  8. Hi all,my Hornby A4 TTS sound fitted stalls on certain points when going slowly despite pick ups on all loco and tender wheels.

Other locos are o k on the same points,do you think it may be the decoder Hornby use with the TTS system.

  9. I had the same problem with my two class 66s derailing on points.

I checked and altered the back to back measurements and even replaced some points all to no avail and decided to store the locos back in their boxes.

But after reading the posts on this blog i loosened the bogie fixings screws and lo and behold they now run perfectly with no problems over the points, well chuffed.

  10. Hi all

Have adjusted the CVs, 54 to 1 and 55 to 60 the loco is now running a lot better, have also ordered a Lenz decoder and will see if this makes a difference.

Another problem i have with  Bachmann decoders is that i cannot enter a long address.

It will let me programme a short address ie 2 numbers but when selecting long address ie 4 numbers it will not accept it.

I am using an NCE Powercab controller any ideas what the problem is or am i doing something wrong.

    Regards

    Bob

  11. Hi all, haven!t been on the forum for a while, can anyone help sort my problem.

I have a Bachmann Hall class loco 5927 Guild Hall which has a factory fitted decoder.

When running on DC its fine runs smoothly at all speeds.

But running on DCC its runs very jerky at slow speed.

I have removed the capacitors and replaced the factory fitted decoder with a new Bachmann 8 pin 3 function decoder but this has made no difference, the loco still runs jerkily at low speed.

I am using a DCC Powercab controller, have checked the wheels and track are clean and pickup wipers are making good contact with the wheels.

I am new to DCC so any help will be appreciated.

    Regards

    Bob
