I am in the process of building a new micro layout using 5mm foamboard purchased from Hobbycraft. I am surprised how strong the baseboard is but I would like to use MTB point motors but does anyone have any suggestions for installing them. I was thinking of glueing some plywood under the foam board then attaching the point motor to it but not sure if this would be strong enough . Johna

Hi Does anyone know if it’s possible to buy N gauge decals with the wording “Taxi” as I want to add it to a few cars that I have converted to taxis!

Sorry maybe I didn’t explain enough. It’s a timer to automatically to turn the leds on and off inside the buildings on my layout.

Is it possible to buy a circuit board to automatically turn light on and off inside buildings. I am using leds powered with a 12v supply that also turns on the headlights etc on some of my buses. For a scenic effect it would be great to have the bus light come on and off automatically when required. Thanks johna

I recently pick up a job lot of model railway items that included a small layout that was built using two Peco settrack points (RH/LH) The layout will need some attention but I cleaned up the track tonight and tried to run a Peckett over the points at a slow speed but as I suspected it stalled . Not wanting the lift the track i will have a go at shimming the checkrails. (Anyone know the best thickness of plastic strip to use?) I will also check the height of the rails at the frogs and maybe add a couple of additional feeder wires. Apart from that I don't think that there is much more I can do ( apart from lifting all the track but that would not work due to the position of the buildings) unless anyone has other suggestions please. So today I purchased some Kadee #18 couplers for the nem sockets on my various wagons. I also got #321 uncoupler magnet plus a #206 height gauge. As this is my first attempt at fitting them I have encountered the following. 1. Fitted the couplers to a Dapol 9 plank wagon and a Hornby 6 plank. 2. Noticed now that the couplers on each wagon are at a different height to each other. 3. The couplers on both wagons are fouling the magnet( they are too low and won't allow the wagons to move over the magnet) Should I be buying the special pliers to bend up the coupler pins and so there a way to ensure each coupler is at the same height or do I need a selection of different couplers. I have not tried it on a loco

Just in the process of building a small shutting layout using two points but would like to be able to in uncouple the wagons hands free. I will be using pecket and ruston loco so can anyone advise me what couplings to use please?

Well, that was a surprise when i arrived home this afternoon . I have received the locos , starter kits and wagons etc but also 4 buildings as well. I wont get time to put it all together until Thursday but cant complain for £50. "Now where are my goggles"

Now, I know its not been to everyone tastes but I have managed to pick up a Bassett Lowke BL 1002 starter layout, two locos and and a wagon for £50. Hopefully it all arrives this week to allow my imagination to run wild . Its something different and maybe in a 100 years if could make the Antiques Roadshow. Johna PS anyone else have purchased the Bassett Lowke stuff or am i out on my own lol?

I have a morley zero 3 controller with two 12v dc outputs however I now required to fit a gaugemaster shuttle timer to my layout but it will only work on 16v ac. Is there anything I can do or buy to get it working or do a need a different controller or shuttle timer, . Can anyone advise please. Thanks

Folks I would like to include a quayside on my next layout but I wondering what materials to use. I know I can get printed stone effects but would like to use embossed sheet it possible The quayside will be curved so not sure if the Wills sheets are suitable Open to suggestions please. Thanks Johna
