    Great show!

I had covid last Easter so it was a welcome return to the Race Course After far too many years away.

My 8 year old enjoyed the Easter egg hunt and an extra thank-you to those exhibitors who took the time to engage with the younger visitors.

It was a pleasure to see the eager faces after finding another Easter Egg......! (Easter Egg No.10!)

  2. May I take this opportunity to thank all that came and saw us on Coniston Lakebank (stand 100), and for your kind words!

You may read more about it in the near future....

Long live 3mm scale, 14.2mm gauge!

Also to the certainty that our finances ….and souls….will soon be willingly in hock to this company store. That is if they  aren’t already. Bravo…..again.

Wonder if Accurasacle do customer acconts....!

Looks like an old Airfix / Kitmaster GWR prairie tank kit and some random Tri-ang loco parts.

Definitely not worth the opening bid, unless the seller gets lucky and finds someone who clearly has far too much money.

But that's surely the dream of anyone who believes that because it's old, it must be worth a fortune!

    But it isn't RARE!??

Or should I say, L@@K, RARE!

  5. Tony was a true gentleman and a great help to me and the entire York show. We had a brief meeting at Easter where he mentioned his illness.

I shall truly miss his quiet dignity and energising personality. RIP Tony

  6. Hi

Had a similar case last month where emails were ignored and no update on the due date

Finally received it 9/6 after paying 15/5...

Turns out he'd been feeling unwell, but a quick message would have sufficed

Just check if the item has been dispatched too, as this would indicate it's in the system

  7. I count myself lucky to have known Peter through others in the Model Railway fraternity. A true gent

Myself, Karl Crowther and Andy Ullyott spent an enjoyable Saturday evening at Expo EM this year socializing with him and his exhibiting team, where the conversation was dominated by talk of shunters and vacuum braked stock

Thoughts are with his family at this difficult time

  8. Fancy Stewarding at the York Show?

We are looking for a small number of volunteer Stewards to assist us with the 2023 show.

In addition to free entry, you would have a subsistence allowance (free lunch!) and an opportunity to be part of one of the UK's friendliest model railway shows.

So if you are within reasonable travelling distance please contact me asap!

  9. Happy New Year to all!!

As the title suggests I am after a Bachmann 08. Not really bothered about livery so could be black, green, green wasp stripes (preferred) or blue.

Must be keenly priced and a decent runner though. Have a set of Ultrascale wheels waiting, And still a DC luddite, but if its DCC'd I may be swayed.....

So, I ordered the couplings on Boxing Day and they arrived in the post this morning (30th). Pretty good going I think.

After assembling one you have to:

    • Question your sanity
    • Have a strong torch to find the split pin which (however careful one is) will "ping off somewhere
    • Wonder if tension lock couplings aren't that bad after all

I'll post some photos tomorrow. Off to lie down for a bit now...

Once you've assembled some-you will become more proficient!

Trust me! I remember demonstrating assembly at the Nottingham show whilst operating too (but very slowly shunting!)

P.S.  One dramatic sign of the covid effect was the absolute mountain of second hand stuff on the bring and buy stall - many members seem to have had a major clear-out during the lockdowns and there was more stuff for sale than I have ever seen before.  I too had such a clear out and did very well on the day returning home with a healthily fat wallet!   Thanks to the chaps who ran the bring and buy sales for their effort.

Gerry-that's very kind of you to appreciate the effort of the Members Sales elves who worked all weekend!
