The rule of thumb is 1gm per mm of length (Gauge O Guild, which, by the way, is worth joining). They usually require some weight.
Glad you've joined the O gauge gang.

Thanks for the reply

I have decided to try 7mm gauge.
Recently I purchased a parkside van kit.
Most of the kit went together very well but I cannot see in the instructions if you need to add weight to the model.
Can someone please advise as I’m ready to glue on the roof.

That's really good news

Never built a layout, never thought I had the room as my house is small.
Seeming the amount of work that's gone into this layout is stunning and ideal if you want to show off some locos and a few wagons.
Now thinking about having a try at something similar perhaps even incorporating a nuclear siding.
Very much enjoyed watching the creation of a superb small layout.

Also not able to be at Stafford
Sat here in the office looking out over the trees thinking what alovley day it is and I'm stuck in here. The worst part is that I'm off tomorrow, so I think I'll put some track down on the base board instead.

Hi
Nice to see a simple layout that's full of atmosphere. The attention to detail is great and I do like the weathered look to the rolling stock.

Couplers in N - is the answer clear?

Having seen them with a black strip painted on top looks good. You only focus on the strip the rest seems not noticeable.
