My 0-14 layout The Brickworks appeared on the old RMweb site and can also be found on NGRM if you look hard enough, but all the info and many photos can be found on my blog https://www.freewebs.com/arthurbudd/thebrickworks.htm The photos that accompanied the article in the Modeller in 1998 can also be found in the Gallery section.
It's about 3 years since I updated this blog, I really must get round to posting some more recent stuff.

The Albion Inn was the station hotel. The station site is buried under a new road alignment and housing estate. Part of the original road alignment leads off the new road and into the pub car park and the old road bridge still stands and can be seen behind the pub from the new road.

You guys certainly know how to push our buttons! Having got me hooked with the delightful HUOs, you are now reeling me in with these (not so little) beauties.
At first I thought they would be amongst the last wagons I might need for my tiny P4 shunting plank but, as luck would have it, I've just noticed a previously undiscovered Blue Circle depot just a few miles up the line from the exchange sidings, so it looks like an order will be on its way.
Please keep up the very good work and many thanks in advance.

Early DPD delivery this morning, very impressed with the sturdy packaging but even more impressed with the very fine detail of these models - quite stunning. A job of just a few minutes to pop the wheels out and replace with some 51L P4 wheels. Maybe not quite so free rolling with these fitted but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Just need to fit some DG couplings and then apply some weathering and rust. Looking forward to more models of this standard from Accurascale.

I think you will find Chris talked about a Barclay chassis. I am working on a chassis for the Peckett.

Sorry, came to this thread late via the Scalefour forum and obviously got wrong end of stick! Anyhow, put me down for a Peckett chassis kit when you get it to market please.

Re possible Peckett chassis. Having just pre ordered a Peckett for delivery next year, I would definitely be interested in a replacement chassis kit please Chris.

Hi arthur can i ask how you fitted the pick ups. Looking at mine I not sure what the best way to do mine. As there is so little room.
Sorry for the delay in replying, it took a while to find the loco at the back of the cupboard again. As you can see from the photo the pick ups are simple top wipers soldered to a small PCB pad glued to the valve gear supports. There is a small cut out in the top of the frames to allow the wire to pass through without fouling the body. With the body in place they are virtually invisible. Hope this helps.

Sorry, I've only just picked this up; been very busy of late organising my archery club' s recent competition. I'll have a look at my model this evening and let you know.

thanks for that les something to try out if and when i have the same problem when built just wondering what wheels people used on the model as the kit say sharman wheels 10mm 10 spoke with a 2.5 throw but as we all know they are no longer available. after a quick look none seem to be anywhere close, the the best i've found was alan gibson but they are 12mm unless i've missed some may help with the case of the buffers being too low due to 3.5mm scale and not 4mm.
Those are Sharman wheels on my model; I got them when I bought the kit so that shows how long ago that was!

Has anyone manage to build one of these kits and could they post some pics please
Here's mine in P4 that I built about 10 years ago, so I can't really remember much about the build except that it was a bit of a fiddle to get all the valve gear in, but it does run and quite well surprisingly. It will get cleaned and painted one day which is why the cab roof is still loose. I didn't realise that it was a 3.5mm model until I put it alongside a wagon, as you can see below.

Back in the day I was posted to 10 Field Workshops, REME at Tidworth. Our workshops were on the site of the old goods yard and military sidings. Today it is a leisure centre.
I like the backstory.
I was drawn to this thread by the name, as I'm just in the process of checking all my equipment ready for tomorrow, when I will be competing in the Dorset and Wilts Indoor Archery Competition at the Tidworth Leisure Centre. I will certainly take more notice of my surroundings now I know there's a railway connection! I will watch the progress of this layout with interest.

I'll have one as well, please.

The best 6 x 4 layout I have ever seen was the simple oval plus one siding, battery operated, 46201 + 2 coaches, laid on a sheet of hardboard by my Dad after I had gone to bed on Christmas Eve nigh on 60 years ago. It was the best present ever as it led to a lifetimes interest in this wonderful hobby.

Following Debs lead above, Roger Chapman, prompted me to put Family's 'Anyway' on today, fantastic album, great cover and sleeve too.
Thanks for that video Debs. I see he just contents himself with throwing towels into the audience these days; back in the '70s he used to skim tambourines off the edge of the stage into the crowd! "Weavers Answer" off Family Entertainment is still one of my all time favourites.

Well done Arthur, I knew you'd give in to the temptation!
Patrick
Hi Pat
As I'd already received the Ultrascale wheels (no delay, straight from stock!) it seemed silly to wait and the Departmental version fits much better with my ideas for Wigmore Road Sidings. I'll smuggle it in to the next Wessex Narrow Gauge Group meeting. I might even bring some P4 track to run it on; I'll just tell them it's 7mm finescale 2'8" narrow gauge track, they'll never notice.

A couple of weeks ago I pre-ordered a MR-007 Sentinel for delivery later this winter. However, in the interim I decided that for my purposes one of the Departmental versions would be more appropriate. I e-mailed my request for a change to my order at 09.57 this morning and received a reply at 12.11 from Kernow Model Rail Centre stating that the order had not only been changed but the replacement loco had been packed and was ready for dispatch. Now that's what I call superb service.

This is a shot of the Branchlines railcar set. There are someother shots of the model on the site as well. Note this is the Railcar set and not the small Branchlines Railbus, pictures of which are also on the site.
Hope this helps

Thanks very much for the compliments. The green locos are indeed scratchbuilt, and are based on Hunslet locos. One is a model of the design that Hunslet proposed for the Lynton & Barnstaple, and the other is totally freelance, but with standard Hunslet design features.
I recomend membership of The 7mm Narrow Gauge Association, see their website http://www.7mmnga.org.uk/ The publish a bi-monthly magazine "Narrow Lines", and I also recomend reading the quarterly Narrow Gauge & Industrial Railway Modelling Review, mentioned earlier.
I havent moved the Bridport Town thread over from the old site, but I might start a new one here. Or I could carry on with this thread, as long as Arthur doesnt mind ??
Cheers,
Dave.
By all means carry on with more about Bridport on this thread, David. Look forward to seeing more of the layout; I really enjoyed operating it at Wimborne. Great fun!

Arthur,
A truely stunning model to say the least!
Do you have any plans for any rolling stock of your own to go with the loco?
Cheers,
Stephen
Hi Stephen
Thanks for your kind comments. I've already built a couple of Kevin Trim's Dorset Kits W&L coaches to go behind the loco; just not got round to painting them yet. I've also built some of his wagon and sheep truck kits, also not painted, but I will need to build some more to give a decent train length. Also I will need some covered vans, cattle wagons and the Brake Van as supplied by Mercian. I will be checking them out at the next Shepton show.
Regards

Last Sunday, when David Taylor was exhibiting his superb layout Bridport Town at the Wimborne 0 Gauge group's annual show, he extended visiting rights to my recently completed model of the W&L "Countess". As this would be the first time the loco had run anywhere other than on my rolling road or along a yard of Peco track, I was a trifle anxious lest she disgraced herself and fell off the track at the first turnout. However I am pleased to report that she behaved herself impeccably and ran up and down the layout beautifully. Unfortunately she was unable to enter revenue service due to a coupling incompatability (not unknown on real narrow gauge railways) and also because, over the whistles, she was a tad too tall to pass through the back scene and into the fiddle yard. So after a few solo runs along the layout she posed for the official photographs to commemorate this historic occasion.
However, owing to a senior moment as I left the house, I had completely forgotten to take my camera along to the show but fortunately David was able to step into the breach and proceeded to take an excellent series of photos, a selection of which, courtesy of David Taylor, I attach below.
