Arrived home to find my NSE pair had arrived today. Some comparisons for colour and size if helpful. Accurascale on the left in each picture.
First against a Bachmann 2a. Colour match is pretty good - certainly nothing to worry about running them in a rake together. The wheels on the 2b are a bit finer, but when weathered probably not noticeable. Similar the roof - black on the 2b, grey on the 2a - again, to be weathered anyway. To be honest the most obvious thing between them is the table tops being white on the 2b and not (yet!) on the 2a. Height, shape etc look pretty close between the two.
Against the darker NSE blue (although I think Bachmann have this a little too dark - and now I look at it the white doesn't look as bright. Weathering needed!)
Then against the 2d FK13575. Pretty sure this was only ever the darker blue.
And for comparison if anyone is respraying - slightly incongruous, but my 119 uses the Phoenix NSE light blue. Pretty close.
Need to clear space to get them running now. Already found how free-running they are - rolled off while trying to take a picture.
Thank you chaps!
Rich
Not too sure about the window at the back of the 119 Brake I don’t remember them having sliding vents. I remember them with a single pillar above the horizontal bar.

Mine arrived today and one bogie is locked solid. Both clips are in place but the drive shaft is displaced so I need to get to the top to reassemble it. I have removed all the screws from the circuit board but there is something preventing it from being lifted anybody any idea?

Problem sorted. Just had to remove the sticky tape and pads.

Update for all with gear issues. It looks like after testing a fraction of the locos were packaged but not always correctly positioned on the cradle before screwing down, this pivots the bogie unduly under the pressure of the screws and appears to have popped the worm cover (part 31 below) off of the offending bogie causing this issue. It's an easy fix but one that requires in the first instance to take the body off and attempt to clip the cover back on though the access holes in the side of the chassis block (69 below). Whilst easy it can be fiddly and if it proves a problem the tower can be accessed by removing the circuit board above and clipping the cover back on. We can understand if you do not want to do that and instead prefer the retailer or ourselves to do the work but in the first instance doing the job yourself is the fastest route to resolve the issue.

I have heard nothing from Rails since last Thursday when they said they were looking into it. No response to my subsequent messages. The P4 wheels are still shown in my pre orders. No doubt if they do eventually send them I will get stung for the postage! The loco is scheduled for delivery today.

Just heard from Rails this morning and they are going to send the wheels this week post free. They said they couldn’t send them out with the locos because they weren’t pre-ordered at the same time. Anyway hopefully sorted now.
Faith restored!!!

Cheers Will. I found the wheels on the Rails website, but it wouldn't allow me to add them to basket. I've gone ahead and ordered a loco and emailed to ask if they can add wheels to the order.
Mine has been despatched from Rails. I queried the p4 wheels and they said they were waiting confirmation for these so I don’t know what is going on there. They are still shown on my pre order list.

Please contact your retailer as the wheel sets were delivered with the locos.
I have just sent them a message. The despatch note and charge only covered the loco but the wheels are still on my pre order list so they aren’t forgotten. My wheels are for P4. Has anybody else had P4 or are those so far released EM?

Mine has just been despatched. Interestingly no mention of the drop in wheels pre ordered so clearly they are coming later and didn’t make the model release.

Have a look at Slaters. A range of buffers are available. Great Western square shank coach buffers are around 10GBP a set.

It would be really nice to fill in the new missing link.... a nicely tooled MK2D. The Airfix tooling has been going round for donkeys years!
Possibly 2e as well. The Hornby effort was pathetic!

Why is it the people who get the best deals on auctions are the least likely to leave any kind of feedback?
I have auctioned a number of things recently in mint unused condition which sold well below the price they are currently available for new and they were posted as quickly as possible within my stated dispatch time, excess postage refunded and nothing!

Not to mention the cast class 31 bogies it was provided with and a moulded centre wheel on the power bogie like Airfix did. Later they changed it to class 47 bogies but never the correct bogie.

Another forum I was on had a "banging head against a brick wall" emoji, maybe we need one here.....
Maybe people don’t have time to wade through pages of useless waffle to see the one post that those who have nothing better to do with their time are fully aware of.

How about it being a Monster. Sometimes used for moving circuses around which could explain the Elephant.

I have been finding an increase in the number of people recently who bid on items at the last minute and then never pay or never communicate. The only sanction available is to prevent them bidding on future items. The other issue seems to be people bidding high early on in an auction, driving down interest and then cancelling their bid a few hours before the final countdown to either allow them or their friends to come back with a lower bid, knowing there will be less people watching to compete with increasing their chances of success. If somebody cancels a bid within 24 hours I think that is reasonable but after a week it is taking the p*** so I have threatened to kill the auction if that happens again.
Rant over! If anyone wants to know who on EBay to avoid PM me!

What's the source of that kit?
There's a few elements that I like that might be useful for other projects such as bogies and underframe.
Jason
Westward kit. Home made roof, ABS bogies, additional details on the sides and scratch built truss rods.

Not my area area of expertise I'm afraid. The article says "With a similar style body to diagram E140, they were mounted on 9' heavy bogies" so perhaps just a change of numbers, bogies and draw gear + buffers at what would have been the inner end would do the job?
This is the wrong thread to ask about that really, so maybe start a new thread in the Help Wanted area would grab the attention of somebody who is a GWR coach expert? The truss rods will be different to accommodate the longer bogie and the pivot point for the bogie is further away from the ends so the solebar rivet detail is at a different location for the cross beam for the bogie.

If it’s a siphon order you should have done and if there is any balance on orders a pay now button appears in the ‘my orders’ view. If not or not what you expected drop the team a line. We’d be delighted to help !

My hope is that we see painted samples of the oo gauge class 25. A two tone green Brush type 4 D1660 City of Truro. & another run ofclass 03 diesel shunters .
They could announce one of the Royal 47’s but I suspect Lady Diana Spencer is an unlikely candidate. :-)

Looks impressive.
Hopefully provision will be made so that variations can be produced without the outside steam pipes. It might be too much to ask for a variant with the bunker not extended?
Looking good. On the 44xx and early 45xx up to 4554 the valence should joggle outwards before the motion bracket up to the front buffer beam. Hopefully the images below will illustrate this.
