  1. Well, this has made me dig out the RMweb login for the first time in a while!

No NG modelling update from me at the moment though I'm afraid - the mojo has taken a bit of a hit which I'm trying to resolve with some aircraft modelling, and sorting the house out enough that there's space in the garage for an actual layout for the first time ever...

  2. Looks very good, J!

Why the need for the big hand in the sky - dirty rails or wheels? (I know that I had that problem when I tested the first side of mine the other week)

Looking forward to seeing the scenics progress - it's the bit that I'm not really looking forward to as I've never actually got that far on a layout before...

  3. Excellent - it's always nice to see the first train on a new layout or board! I'm not far off that stage myself - managed to get the first loco movements on the station board of Hafod Las... at least on the right hand side before the station throat, which was when I discovered that I hadn't connected the common feed to all of the switches and only about 1/6th of the track was powered

Looks like you're having more success than me!

  4. It's a very professional-looking traverser - exactly the sort of thing that I originally wanted for the previous incarnation of my layout. If I ever want one again, I'll have to remember the alignment method too. I know exactly the feeling you mean about cassettes and tipping stock out of the ends, too...

Nice to see some progress on Scrayingham, looking forward to seeing some more!

  5. They look very good to me, Andy. I've always been tempted to model in 7mm, but have avoided it so far because of the sheer amount of 009 stock that I own!

One (very minor) comment on the braked slate waggon, if I may - the handle looks to be a little too long to me, but that might just be a matter of perspective?

  6. Freelance NG modellers have been designing and building imaginary locomotives for many years.I'm one of them biggrin.gif

I won't be designing any new ones... but given that the NWNGR was originally intending to have about a dozen Single Fairlies, I've seriously considered a Moel Siabod to go with Moel Tryfan and Snowdon Ranger - a quarry on the side of Moel Siabod would have been served if (as assumed on my layout) the NWNGR was completed to at least Betws-y-Coed.

Damn... now I'm thinking of buying a Chivers Fairlie!

I'm sure I'd be able to justify another Double Fairlie or two to handle the switchbacks at Roman Camp and an extra England engine to shunt at Betws...

    No! Stop it! laugh.gif

  7. The locomotive named "Dunrobin" can be seen here (don't want to incur copyright-related wrath  )

    Whereas here's the area:

So... onto the next square (let's hope I don't kill the thread like last time  )

  8. OK - the original proposal for a railway to this small town was for a northwest to southeast line through the town. The part from the northwest was built first. The part to the southeast was built 26 years later. The two lines were never joined ??“ the town had two separate railway stations. At the grouping, the northwestern station was owned by one railway company. The southeastern station (which was in this square) was owned by a joint railway, and the company owning the northwestern station was a partner in this joint railway. (And it could be made even more complicated than that biggrin.gif !)

Well, that puts my clues in the shadeblink.gif
