  1. Hi All, So with a slight change to the previously advestised program we won't be exhibiting at Ally Pally, but in its place we are pleased to announce that we will be attending the 2024 Darlington exhibition on the 14th and 15th September at the Oakleaf sports complex at Newton Aycliffe We will (hopefully) have a few new additions to the stock roster and may be a few other surprises for the weekend. This is closely followed by the Great Electric Train show in October. With only just over 6 months till the first outing for 2024 for the layout (we are at several other shows with other layouts and demos between now and then), we best get cracking on the list of jobs. Now where is the chisel and hammer!!
  2. Item 4 goes across the top of the front of the bogie once you have removed the tension lock coupling.
  3. Hi all, Just wanted to say a big thanks on behalf of the Charwelton into the 80s team to the Railex team for inviting us to bring the big trainset to exhibit at the show. The show had a high standard of layouts and to have been invited to exhibit along side them was an honour. Looking forward to visiting the show again in the future as either a member of the public or with one of the other trainsets
  4. Thats fr the heads up, I thought i had used that one already!! 😂 To be honest I need to keep quiet when Stan talks to me about layouts!!
  5. Looking forward as always to making the trip North to the show. Always a great show with a very welcoming organising team and club members, Who will be pleased to know that this year the layout is a little bit smaller than last years so help won't be needed for unloading!! 😃
  6. Hi all, So the days are steadly counting down to Railex (only 97!!) and there is plenty going on in the background and there will hopefully be another couple of new items of rolling stock on the layout for the show. It is also about time another photo was posted up. The southern portal of Catesby Tunnel.
  7. The Charwelton into the 80s team are looking forward to making the trip south to Railex with the big trainset. If you are attending the show then please say hi to the team.
  8. Hi all, So its been a couple of months since the last outing and thought as its only 132 days till we exhibit at Railex 2023, we thought it was time to post up some of the photos of the layout and some of the latest editions to the stock roster. So to kick off with here is a 37 281 on a pipe flow on the up.
  9. So Charwleton into the 80s is on the road and heading to the land of the Wigan cocktail!! 😄 If you are visting the show say hi to the team.
  10. Please say hi if you are at the show as its always nice to meet people who take an intrest in the rambellings we post up.
  11. Hi David, The shows we have booked to attend near London are as follows 2023 Railex - Stoke manderville - 27th - 28th May 2023 2024 London festival of Railway modelling - Alexandra Palace - March 2024 Hornby GETS - Milton Keynes - 14th - 15th Oct 2024 Thanks
  12. Totally echo what Andy has said. When we arrived, we had what seamed to be the whole club helping unload the layout and cut down the amount of time it would have taken the advanced party to do it with just the two of us. The show was great and the Charwelton into the 80s team all enjoyed it despite some gremlins first thing due to the heat. The hospitality of the club and the friendliness of the club members is second to none and a credit to the club. Lastly many thanks to Stan (exhibiton manager) fo inviting us in the first place after seeing what was a short video of the layout beofre we started work on it and still wanting us after the extra 2 year wait. Looking forward to exhibiting at the show again. Thanks
  13. @AY Mod, I'm sorry but I'm going to have to call an unfair test!! As you can plainly see that the coupling height of the brick wagon is wrong and your not running it on carpet. I would expect better from your self!! Yours, disgruntled Modeller 🤪🤪🤪😉😂 Ps That has to be the best youtube clip todate!! Pps: There is now way you will be getting a warrenty claim if it breaks now 😂😂
  14. Hi, The signals are the corrrect for the layout up to that location from the station. The issue is the distance between those signals and the tunnel is compressed on the layout as to have it all to scale we would have to add in an extra 30ft taking the layout up to 70ft long. In real life there was also a signal at the northen end of the tunnel which would help as well.
  15. Hi, I am in the same position with a possible invite to Holland next year and have been looking into it and this is my understanding of the process from reading the HMRC website. Now I may totally be wrong but there are two diffrent ways of doing it and that alters what paperwok is needed or not needed depending on each method So first thing I found was that if you are sending the layout on ahead ie the layout will be travelling on its own it would need the export and import paperwork to accompany it as it would be classed as goods. Second is the way most of us will be doing it with it, either being in a van or a car and all you need for that is an itemsied list of the items you are taking with you i.e. 1 x layout, 15 x locos etc. This is to prove what you took you have brought back and not added anything extra i.e. 2 new locos. I also suspect that if you have fellow operators travelling then they will need to list their items separately to yours, again to prove what is how as to a customs offical it may look a bit suspisus that you are taking 35 sound fitted DCC locos. As I said thats my understanding from reading the HMRC website and once the invite is confirmed I will be contcating HMRC about it all and I have a feeling they will only direct me to the website as they won't know either. I will of course update you once I know anything else and hope if any one else is doing sooner rather than later, they will post up thier findings here so we can all benfit from the knowlage.
  16. We are looking forward to finally come up to the show with Charwelton into the 80s. Be the first trip out since 2019 with it. Might have to set it up and have a test to make sure we know how to play with, operate the train set
  17. Hello all, So its been well over a year since i last updated the bolg on here. Lots has happened and I won't bore you with everything that has happened. Here is a Clockwork ideas 08-16 Tamper model that came in for some lights to be fitted.. The kit had already been built and needed correcting in a couple of places and it did cause a bit of head scratching as some of the wire runs couldn't be routed where they needed to go as the kit was already built and would meant distroying what had been done. A work around was solved and it duly had lights and sound fitted. Here are some photos of the work done and a couple of it being test run on Charwelton into the 80s.
  18. I wouldn't expect anything less. I have an idea but will wait till I get my hands on one to see if it will work
  19. There may be a plan in the pipeline* to see how many things one can move but don't tell the lads as they may ............ *Said plan may be a few months away, well till we get the big train set out next
  20. Unless I've got the dates wrong on the info I have been sent, its this weekend 16th & 17th October
  21. Hello all, So imagine my suprise to login tonight and to be greated with a few mentions in here. Not been posting for a long time in here due to one thing and another, but after recent events, you just need to be able to connect with like like minded people and what better way that first thing in the morning. Must make a point of joining in again as I'm still up early. Can't believe that it was that long ago. Having been one of the early users of RMweb (It was in the 700s when I signed up) you could never have guessed how things would deveolpe. When the software changed I was the first one of the ERs to be on the new forum so, as I put in the post, it wasn't right not to have the ER thread and its went from there. I second that Baz and the first thing would be to raise a glass (or several) to @gordon s and all those that have made their way to the great model railway club in the sky before settling down to catch up with everything ERs. See you all soon Simon
  22. Hi all, So its been a long time since the last post for various reasons but I thought it was about time we popped an update up. So we have had a couple of working weekends, which we have had to keep under wraps as we had the pleasure to do some test runs of new items for a manufacter. the following photos will give it away Whilst we spent some time playing trains working hard for them, we did mange to get some work done on the layout to reduce the list of jobs ready for the next trip out. With regards to the next trip out we have been booked to appear at the following shows, well I say booked, its more a case of shows that have been carried over which is understandable. So we are pleased to say we are at the following....... 2022 Perth June Wigan October 2023 Railex May We will let you know as and when more are confirmed.
