By 1965 could Brindle Heath have been the holding sidings for the Pilkington tile works up at Clifton Junction?

Not very helpful I know but it might save you a lot of time and expence if you bought a more suitably coloured stockbox. We ended up relaying half our layout when we came across the problem of painting polypropylene track bases. One industrial painter did say he could do it but we'd have to vacate the clubhouse for about 12months until the fumes had subsided!!

But why would you want to uncouple any vehicle anywhere? Just be mindful that stock on the prototype is only coupled and uncoupled at specific locations.

Don't forget that you only need one coupling to be operational to uncouple satisfactorily so if all else fails have the one on the locomotive fixed and have the operational coupling on the adjoining vehicle. That said, Nigel Cliffe's DCC coupling is fantastic but it does require 'slightly' more work!!

Do I take it you're using Gibson wheels for this? If so be very careful when soldering shorting wires to the back of the tyres as the Gibson centres distort very, very quickly with any form of heat near them. I know, heat...plastic...duh, but the speed of distortion can be quite amazing! Done it, been there, got the T-shirt. I ended up using a cold wet tissue as a heat sink around the join. The only reason I didn't in the first place was because I was originally using Sharman Wheels and their nylon centres were very resilient to heat.
