I've just successfully run SQP on DCC wiring, and it all worked rather well! What a great day this is!! This means I can now run all the stock I own on it!! Yesssssss!!!!!!!!
Well, Scotts Quay Pier is my N Gauge Layout. It is 10ft * 8ft and is L Shaped. It is a fictional location, although inspired by Ryde Pier, on the Isle of Wight, and is based in the 50's / 60's Southern era. It's built on those "pink" foamboards which makes it really light too, and I've got getting up/down to a 25 - minute fine art!! It was built by ROn Boreham in Southampton, and I "adopted" it from him as he didn't have tim to exhibit it. I've got it available for exhibiting and I do so hope to get it out on the circuit loads of times! I have got an increasing collection of photos of the layout in the "Scotts Quay Pier" Album on here too.
Hey, Hey! I've got an exhibition date for Scotts Quay Pier! It will be able to be seen At the Weymouth MRA Show, 24th & 25th October 2009 at the Wey Valley School, Weymouth!
I've just finished and tested the newly homed electrics box for SQP. It was all housed in a little suitcase, but now I've bought a DIY toolbox which I've doctored to suit the needs of the controls!
Afternoon Everyone! I know I've been re-posting stuff from the old RMWeb, but this *IS* new!! I've just heard I have another Date for Scotts Quary Pier, i'll be at Scout Rail 2010 in Kidlington, Oxford! 9th & 10th of January 2010!
Hello Everyone, well, Gary and I are safely back from Weymouth (and the layout too!), It has been a fantastic weekend, the Weymouth show by comparison is not the biggest of shows, but it serves its purpose well. The people are wonderful and the layout ran without error. It;s been a really great weekend - even the wee lasses celebrating a birthday in Weatherspoons were nice too!
I parted with a little bit of money, a GWR green railbus "thing" took my fancy, along with a couple of N Gauge busses and some different colours of cable.... nothing too elaborate this weekend - it's Warley soon!!
Ah well, one last switch to rewire and other than that Scotts Quay Pier will be out at Scout Rail 2010 in Kidlington.
Please see the Gallery for some Weymouth Photos!
Edit: OK - I've actually managed to get the Weymouth photos up in the Gallery Now!
They Said it couldn't be done, they said he was mad...
Morning All!
I've always wanted to start one of these "Workbench" trackers, but I had so much floating across my workbench in so many different states of dis-array it seemed a little difficult!
Anyway, there is great celebration this morning! For last night rolled off my workbench a Graham Farish Class 50 with an ESU Loksound Micro provided by SOuth West Digital fully installed in it!
OK, Prompted by a couple of posts in reply to my thread in DCC Sound, I'm going to detail here as best I can how I did the DCC Converstion.
Items Used were:
ESU Loksound Micro Burnt with Class 50 Project, supplied by South West Digital
2 x Graham Farish Class 50 Locos, 1 China Chassis, 1 Poole Chassis
2 pin micro plug, supplied by DCC Supplies
16 * 25 (The smallest rectangular size available either way) speaker - supplied with the ESU LSM
On the Poole Chassis strip the drive train out and the metal cross member above the removable fuel tank. It is this hole where the speaker is going to sit. Solder one side of the micro plug to the speaker and feed the plug / cable up into the chassis, and feed out the front of the loco between the body and bogie - you may have to shave a bit out of the centre of the buffer beam to make the whole thing now sit more happily.
On the China Chassis, install the decoder as detailed in Gareth's (Trains4u) guides for standard installation into a split chassis loco. Attach the other half of the plug onto the now bare speaker wire from the chip. Feed the micro connection again out of the body between the body and leading bogie, on the China body you will definitely have to file away the centre of the buffer beam to allow free movement of the bogie with the wire on top.
So finally, connect up the micro plug over the rapido connector, then link together the Rapido couplings, and away you go!
Well yes, 2 of us at he Fareham club decieded to through our hat into the 2010 Challenge.
So far, we've decided we'll be doing something N Gauge, on 3; 4ft*1ft boards. And so far, I've got as far as making up 2 of them, as the photos atached demonstrate B)
Just by way of a quick update, I've got all three boards now cut and prepared, I've covered them in a couple of coats of PVA to seal the MDF tops and edges, and I've marked out the fiddle yard "barrier" line. And i've dared to join two of the 3 boards together!
Now, in conjunction with the post about Carlisle station in the Prototyping thread, time to start squeezing it all in
