  1. Well I thought I'd finished the PWA, but as I was fitting the excellent railtec transfers, using Humbrol DecalFix (which is a first for me and found it much easier), using the reference pictures on @hmrspaul superb site, I realised the underframe has plates over some of the gaps. Just contemplating to try and use painted inkjet acetate sheets.... The bogies supplied seemed to be too narrow so have used English Steel ESC-1 from the N gauge society - which I don't think are 100% correct, but they'll do for me
  2. EFE N Gauge J94s at 48% off Looks like only one example left in stock but I was able to order one the was "On Order with Supplier" Fingers crossed.... EFE RAIL WD AUSTERITY (J94) SADDLE TANKS
  3. Thing is, it's currently the focal point. Once you've got scenics down in the foreground it won't seem as bad I think. I think it looks ok- reminds me of how it would look on a hot summer's day, probably accentuated by the lighting.. And the tones don't look like some of the garish fluorescent ones you sometime see.
  4. Wonder if the exhibition train version will make an appearance?
  5. Next up is a 2 piece kit which I purchased from Shapeways back in 2018 according to my emails! No longer available, but just required a clean up and then painting. Used Halfords rattle can white primer, then masked of and hand painted the brown with humbrol matt enamel 186. Needs a bit of touching up before I give it a coat of gloss and then apply the Railtec transfers I definitely have, followed by a coat of matt. This wagon will accompany a quartet of Revolution IWA Cargowaggons as they did towards the end of their lives, as can be seen in this photo Daryl Hutchinson 47446 approaches Abbotswood Jn with 6M34 1455 Bridgwater - Ince UKF service 9/5/89 from Flickr
  6. I think I may have started one of these before, but I can't find the original entry. I've got a very healthy (or unhealthy depending on your viewpoint) pile of part made and unmade kits and projects which have been sitting around for the best part of a decade. A visit to the Festival of railway modelling at Doncaster last month provided a much needed boots to the modelling motivation, so in recent weeks have cracked on with a couple of projects. Firstly go round to painting the Chivers OTA kits which have been built for a while now. Purchased the Ten Commandments loads at Doncaster. Need to add transfers (now have I or haven't I bought them already - can't seem to find them in the drawer), then add loads, straps and a coat of matt varnish.
  7. Not had chance to test yet but looks and details stunning. Amazing value (especially at the early bird price). Also had incorrect etched plated in the detailing pack but Simon sorting correct ones. Better get cracking on a working layout for it to run on.
  8. Reminds me of the old 3 level layout in the Graham Farish Catalogues
  9. A frenzy of S&T action at Yeovil in 1993 Yeovil P.M Satlink by Steve McMullin on Flickr
  10. I've registered for a couple of current day sets. Somewhere down the line, I'm thinking of a current day West Highland mini layout. Revolution GBRf Class 66 Revolution Alcan PCAs Revolution Mk5 Sleepers 73/9 hint hint Couple of Scotrail 156s (could do with an updated version hint hint) And probably a charter set such as Black 5 with WCR Mk1s (Farish) All this because I went on the Caledonian sleeper last year and was enchanted by the area.
  11. And Virgin https://www.themodelcentre.com/371-783 Didn't notice those either
  12. Was searching for photos of "Robert" the J94 that took part in the Rainhill Trials in 1980, and found this impressive scene. Also a J94 hauling HEAs at the Colliery Bold Colliery Splendour by Bob Avery on Flickr Bold, St Helens by Keith Wilde on Flickr
  13. Graham Farish Res Class 90 for £116.97 https://www.themodelcentre.com/371-782 There were 2 instock....... Now 1
  14. This youtube video I came across recently appears to have 4 in a 1994 mixed cross channel rake I think?
  15. Can't wait to get mine. I'm not refreshing my inbox waiting for the balance invoice to arrive or anything.....
  16. I've just put this on the general "Which models do you wish to see from Dapol?"
  17. Too late to squeeze into the upcoming production run some Intercity landcruise Mk3 sleepers with white roofs? I believe there's a competitor's Mk1 coming out that might be complementary..... By Brian Dean from Flickr
  18. Have searched but can't find any prototype info in the ICI narrow gauge Drewry, i.e. where it worked, what it hauled etc. Does anyone have any links?
  19. Perhaps an opportunity for Revolution, HBAs, HEAs, RNAs, HSAs, CEAs, MEAs, MFAs.........?
  20. Genuinely surprised not to see more class 47 liveries announced, but as other have said CNY will reduce capacity over this quarter. I also thought there might be some new liveries for the Polybulk and TEA tanker, the former via collectors club or regional exclusive. Didn't think we'd see old tooling dug up, though the PGA was announced as part of a set last time. Will pick up the Intercity charter Mk1 FOs once in the bargain bins...... LMS 10000 is very tempting...must resist
  21. £69.95 RRP for a twin pack. Price reflective of older tooling, but still.......
  22. I still think there is untapped potential for more 20'9" chassis wagons. The VDA has been a gaping hole for forever (I know there was a TPM kit back in the day, and now available from the N Gauge Society - but you need a chassis and roof to complete). Along with it VBA's, VCA's, departmental variants. But now there is a competitor with Rapido producing the OAA, perhaps they will be from that stable (along with OTAs)
  23. Likewise 10-12 in ARC as a starter....
  24. I had an email from Trainline promoting this. Looked at a ticket middle of February to London from Accrington - my nearest local station. I know there are two possible routes - to Preston then Avanti to Euston, or to Leeds then LNER to KX (my preferred option) Inputting Accrington to London (Any) only brought up the Preston option. If I add "via Leeds" it only offers Accrington - Leeds - Sheffield - London St Pancras (2 changes 4 hours 54 minutes) But at least the latter option shows the fare is "in the sale" I've just tried using the Northern app and get the same results so there's something amiss which is ignoring the LNER offering (anything to do with those new LNER fares?)
