  1. The Transfesa ones use a Fleischmann van that were split from a starter train set by DM Toys.....chassis has kinetic couplers but body is very basic, don’t know what model number it is but you can see pictures from this post onwards http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/75679-kensington-olympia-in-n-scale/?p=2388107These wagons have a shorter wheelbase than many. You need a wagon with a 45mm wheelbase and 76mm over the headstocks. For the Interfrigo van I used a cheap van picked up at a swap meet, no idea what it was. These have the ‘standard’ 8000mm wheelbase. So you need something with a wheelbase of around 54mm and 86 mm over headstocks. I’ll take a photo of the underneath as I think it shows a Fleischmann serial number. Hope this helps.
  2. The second batch of transfers arrived today and have now been added to the Interfrigo van. I’ll add some photos tomorrow. As expected yesterday the PC fell over at 81% with its windows updates but has rebooted OK. Hopefully I should get the Leyland National doors finished tomorrow.
  3. The nearly finish Interfrigo van alongside the last of the Transfesa ones.
  4. Blooming auto correct! No it was somewhere near West Chiltington. Where you on the one I set that had as one of the clues the East Quay cannon at Newhaven....what I hadn’t taken in was that it was on the West Quay. Nearly everyone that eventually found it then got trapped as the swingbridge opened. We were waiting at the Tiger Inn at East Dean which was halfway.....most were over an hour late getting there.
  5. Both my Viva HCs were 1300s so fast wasn’t in the spec! I did get the first one off the ground momentarily on a Brighton Model Railway Club treasure hunt I hit a hump back bridge a bit too quickly and neither of my passengers including my sister were belted in, both banged their heads on the roof! Dukes of Hazzard it wasn’t!
  6. My reference sources are for Plans the Barrowmore MRG BR Folio books they have a pretty complete set.http://www.barrowmoremrg.co.uk/Prototype.html There are two volumes of International vehicles. You will need to calculate the dimensions. The drawings are basic so photos, photos, photos required. Paul Bartlett’s wagon website http://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/paulbartlettsrailwaywagons Get David Radcliffe’s book International train ferry wagons for the modeller......Amazon sell it. Pick your wagon of choice! My Interfrigo van has a stretched Fleischmann wagon chassis under it, or you could go down the scratchbuilt road like Paul has done in post 569 http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/75679-kensington-olympia-in-n-scale/?p=3164148 The Interfrigo van is really just a plasticard box, two layers of 20 thou, with a 10 thou skin for the plug door and sides. The roof is layers of plasticard then filled and sanded to shape. You’ll need to get a good selection of Evergreen plasticard, planked, strip, rod, H and L section for any other wagons. The end platforms, which are to big, and ladders are from Peedie models. Paint is white primer from Halfords then clear lacquer.
  7. RailNscale are now doing the Kadett in 1/148....two door saloon and coupe. https://railnscale.com/2018/05/15/opel-kadett-c-british-n-1148/ Maurice is working on the Chevette, three door hatch, four door saloon......and estate/Chevanne or maybe both. Below is his email........ Meanwhile I've upscaled the Opel Kadett 2-door saloon and coupé into British N 1/148th scale: https://railnscale.com/2018/05/15/opel-kadett-c-british-n-1148/ The 2-door being the most sold Kadett version, and the Coupé was unique to Opel, as the Vauxhall Chevette didn't come as coupe. Regarding the Vauxhall Chevette. I am anticipating on a 4-door saloon version and the 3-door hatchback, as they must have been most popular in the UK. Still working on the nose job. In between I am working on the original Renault Trafic van. Furthermore I was thinking about the Bedford Chevanne panel van. Would that be something of interest?
  8. The Interfrigo van has had its underframe details and brake details added, plus some pipe work on the ends that I presume adds coolant. Long Rail is kindly doing the decals I missed the first time round so these should be added by the weekend....another NGS meet too. I’ll get photos of that posted later along with the finished 25083.
  9. Sunday the second of the Leyland Nationals got its red paintwork. Yesterday I went to refit all the windows as they hold up the now modified seating unit. All the side windows and the rear window went in without a hitch, the front screen dropped through the body and vanished into thin air.........thirty mins scrabbling around on the floor, checking the baseboards, my clothes no sign of it.....B*gg*r! Lots of muttering by me I walked into the lounge and passed my dilemma on to Mrs G......no sympathy there....have you checked your clothes......yes says I. She gets up to walk to the dining room and bends down in the Lounge and says is this it! FFS!! The windscreen is now where it should be in attached to the bus. I’ll try and post some progress photos later but my PC is yet again trying to load a windows 10 update.....gets to about 80% usually then locks up.....currently at 39%.
  10. Longrail of this parish kindly offered to print my decal set using a laserjet printer, this arrived today and what a difference it makes from the inkjet equivilent. They are so much thinner than the inkjet ones as you don't need to spray varnish them. Here is the Interfrigo van now with decals.......the INTER and FRIGO were done using the font Bolts SF on word then made bold and italicised. This is very close to the correct typeface. The rest of decals were just resized from a set of downloaded pictures of the wagon which can be found HERE To fill up the sheet of decal paper the bus adverts were rerun but it looks like I've cocked the sizing up as they are a bit too big, but they did trim down OK and now adorn the RM's Once again many thanks to Longrail for the doing the business.
  11. Many thanks for that Paul, where do you get your parts from are they 2FS items?
  12. Knew these were coming. This seems to be a good range but you would need quite a lot of windows for most buildings and there’s not many in each pack, the multi pack is a good idea.
  13. Well the Arnold wagons won’t be the donors as the method of construction appears to glue them together and the middle part of the chassis which is screwed on contains the close coupling system. So it’s back to searching for cheap wagons at swopmeets or eBay.
  14. I was thinking about the next ferry van project yesterday and trying to source a suitable chassis......then remembered that I have about a half dozen Arnold European vans as ferry stand ins...Doh! Use the chassis from these! Not sure what wagon will come next, something common that I can batch produce.
  15. Yorkshire area NGS meeting today, 25083 is now weathered and had a run with the oil tanks. I’ll get a picture of the finished loco posted later. The second Leyland National had some more surgery to fit the doors. I will need to mask up some clear plasticard and spray the doors as my attempt with a paint pen didn’t work. The construction of the doors worked OK so just another method required. The third Transfesa van finally got its decals added about two years after its siblings. The only other work I managed was on the Interfrigo van which has the start of some underframe details. As always pictures to follow........
  16. Nothing much to report as I’ve been busy taking out a Holly tree stump. The tree was about 25ft tall when we moved in, I think I’d got it chopped down within the month. Nearly a year on decided to take the stump out......two days later it finally gave up its grip and came out. Whilst this was going on I’ve popped the second Leyland National in the Superstrip for its LT make over. Looking at the bus fleet picture further up the page I thought the paint job on the DMS was a bit poor. I had hand painted it. That’s also been popped in the Superstrip for a rebuild.
  17. Thank you for explaining that, didn’t realise the significance of the red square.........Even odder when all they need to do is change the artwork for a different vehicle in the same livery.
  18. I’ve added glazing to the lower deck rear window on some of my RM,s.. Is the BHE one whitemetal? Might make stretching it to be an RML easier.
  19. Thanks Grahame......That’s the disadvantage of doing buildings with large windows they need an interior. TWA building has yet to get any. Wish I’d managed to get some more of the Cars Workshop DMS,s and of course the TPM conversion kit. Your LH RM isn’t a ODC is it?
  20. The designer that has done the Ford D series on Shapeways also has a Scania in 1/148 https://www.shapeways.com/product/ZK6ED2EE4/scania-141-refrigerated-lorry-1-148-scale?optionId=62912038 The cabs are available separately but only in 1/160 https://www.shapeways.com/product/5JFN8NA6G/2-replacement-cabs-for-scania-141-n-scale?optionId=64486377
  21. Im surprised as ODC do reruns of sold out models that the LT roundal RM hasn’t been rerun. A more modern cab to fit their range of truck chassis wouldn’t go amiss. Leyland Ergo, Ford D series, Bedford TK or a Foden or ERF would be great. There are two more colours of Cortina outstanding and another for the MGB.....a hardtop MGB would be nice. I expect we will get a second colour for the Imp, another tank and a different burger caravan!
