Does anyone know what happened to the Metcalfe Water tower kit (in 4mm)?

I have been looking for one for ages without success.  I even have a saved search on ebay, but none have come up for months - unbuilt ones that is.

Finally decided to go to their website to order one and its no longer listed.

    Any one any the wiser?

    Steve

It’s not been made for at least 4 years.

I had a Regal 3/25 in blue too. I passed my test in it when I was 16 which was legal because it was technically a motor tricycle. Cost me £50. I survived it and learned a lot about how to drive safely. Rule 1 - never brake and turn the steering wheel at the same time. Rule 2 - watch out when an artic overtakes you on the motorway.

Back to the plot I used that Deluxe Materials Glue n glaze on the 3D printed cars I have.

I had one driving lesson in the Reliant Supervan with my mum. First and last time I ever swore at her it so frustrating to drive. kangerooing around Bevendean Industrial estate one Sunday morning.

I use Krystal Klear for windows, front screen will probably be clear Plasticard.

  3. I can confirm that the older bodies and fuel tanks fit the new chassis. Thanks to davebem for doing the donkey work on this.

A two minute job to swop the lot. So my 47555 becomes sound fitted. It had a good run around the long DCC layout at the Yorkshire area NGS meeting today. Excellent sounds.

  4. NGS Christmas meeting today so mince pies and trains.

I took 47555 along, this now has the new sound fitted c47 chassis. A two minute job to swop bodies and fuel tanks over from the new RES liveried model. 47555 performed faultlessly and made a great noise with its 9 coach train.

I also largely finished the M and S building, just the window dressing to add before the walls are glued to the carcass. The tin shed also had its windows added and other than a bit of weathering is now finished.

    Pictures to follow.

While we were away in Copenhagen Sister Tamworth has taken delivery of her new stead……but some b****** has nicked all the glass and painted it red!

It will gain windows and be repainted Pale Blue, same colour as my parents car EPX976C.

Yes, the chassis is just a lower profile block and entirely new pcb for next 18 and speaker, the bogie tower is also lower.  This means the new ones are a few grams lighter ( I had a touch of wheel slip on a 10 coach rake - nothing serious though).

The light pcb now includes cab light at the top shown below.  The only minor issue with swapping bodies is the cab interior moulding has been changed for the cab light to pass through, if you can live without cab lights or also swap the cab interior then its fine.

Can the earlier fuel tank set up be attached to the new chassis? If yes then I can see a lot of body swooping going on.

  7. Just back on Sunday from a few days in Copenhagen. Not much train stuff but did a few journeys on the driverless Metro and we did avail ourselves of the refreshments available in the “Railway Pub”. There was more snow (and fog) at Leeds when we landed than in Copenhagen which had almost nothing.

My Sussex sojourn ended yesterday and, following an uneventful trip by South Eastern 375 (again), Bakerloo Line 72 stock, Chiltern 168 and West Midlands 323, I'm now at my cousin's home on the fringes of the Black Country.

We went to his local MG Owners' Club meeting last night, where I attempted to stir the pot by revealing that I used to be a member of the MG Car Club (think People's Front of Judea and Judean Peoples' Front). Regrettably the venue only had fizzy beer, so I settled for a pint of John Smith's Smooth, which I reckon was the least worst option.

I also learned that the entrance and exit to and from an MGB is more challenging than it was 40 years ago...

    Splitters!

  9. Well the Brighton show is over for another year…..my feet ache as always…..

Attendance was up from 2022 which is excellent. The club display stand hasn’t been updated for a few years but one photo on it you might find amusing. This was taken while we were clearing the ground for the 40ft hut that holds most of the layouts…..and yes I’m in there as a 19 year old.
