  1. You’d need a big mouth to eat that. 😂
  2. My wife and her sister had a not so quick trip to the York Designer outlet……….no clothes with posh labels for me… Yes 3kg of jelly babies…..these are so much better than the Maynards ones.
  3. Thanks Ben. To finish off today a couple of views of the W.I.P. in situ……..taken by a passing pigeon.
  4. Grotty day today in North Yorkshire…but indoors it’s nice and warm, so I took advantage of some spare time and have carried on with the department store. Carcass now made and some details being added to the walls.
  5. I made some progress on the replacement store for Kensington high street at the latest Yorkshire NGS area meeting. Front wall windows all cut out. The Hastings DEMU also had the last of its Dapol dummy knuckle couplers added. I might even be able to change one end of each coach to short ones which will close the gap even more. The four trailer cars have now been glued to their chassis.
  6. Confusingly or not I’ll be bumping into John both in Brighton and Yorkshire….

  8. There is a catalogue supplement issued each quarter, announcements prior to catalogue are incorporated as an appendix.
  9. Sound versions were announced back when the VT, RES and Colas trio were first announced. I will not be surprised to find next week’s announcement also contains rail blue, Intercity and TTG versions.
  10. Sound fitted Met Cams have been….not quite gone we still have/had a blue /grey one in the shop last week. The class 47s must be at least 4 years since announcement, if not more.
  11. Sister Tamworth should have read the Interweb rather than frightening London ice cream sellers….apart from that fact it’s 1979/80! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/99_Flake
  12. The Dapol dummy knuckle couplers worked a treat. Closer than the Rapidos, No corridor locking ( no intermediate buffers on SR EMUs and DMUs ) and no uncoupling. Three and a half vehicles completed so far.
  13. ……..meanwhile on the mean streets of Kensington……Sister Tamworth and the rest of the Three Wheeler gang have surrounded the Walls Ice Cream van demanding to know why 99’s are called that!
  14. This afternoon I’ve spent some time trying to get the Hastings DEMU slightly closer coupled between coaches. Various West Hill magnetic couplers tried, either longer than Rapidos or too close. More interesting was the constant derailments on curves. I also tried some Dapol knuckle couplers but they gave a longer gap than the Rapidos and didn’t stay coupled constantly. Finally I tried various lengths of NEM bar couplers and these also constantly derailed the coaches. So it’s back to Rapidos as the closest and most reliable. I do have some Dapol dummy knuckle couplers that haven’t been tried yet.
  15. Hillary Briss’s Special Stuff….from the League of Gentlemen. Your suggestion made me laugh John. Thank you and me too.
  16. Birthday today…just the one railway related pressie. Looking forward to this.
  17. Not much modelling done last week but there is a bit of progress on the T Trax boards. Most of backscene attached. Some 3D printed portacabins and small tanks added along with a start made on the road bridge and more fencing added. Some signage also added. A class 25 and a very short parcels train added to the scene.
  18. Monk Bar Model shop has put some extra items in the Sale department. https://www.monkbarmodelshop.co.uk/sale-c235#sort7 There are some sets of Accurascale wagons in the sale including Castle cement and first release 21ton mineral wagons.
  19. Just started giving it a run in. Almost silent in one direction, bit grindy in the other. This seems to be improving with running in. Only picking up from the powered bogie. Popping the body off showed up the problem. The vertical tags on the bogie were bent and the copper strips they were supposed to be touching were also bent away from the tags. The bogie pulls straight out, pliers to straighten the tags and the copper strips were pushed down with a flat bladed screw driver. Job done. Nice model, good detail and not too flimsy. Fine hand rails….probably half the thickness of those on a Farish class 25. Once run in, I’ll fit the decoder and give it a weathering…..it’s far too clean.
  20. Not yet, I’ve literally just got it out the box. If I get a chance I’ll give it a run on DC today, prior to fitting the decoder.
  21. Just the brake thirds and full brake have E prefix’s.
  22. One of my former work colleagues had posted this picture on FB. Photo by John Atkinson. This looks like a nice little project using a Farish Bulleid open 3rd……..what colour do we think this is, weathered Olive? It almost looks like Sleeper Grime colour. This is the opposite side. The coach has been preserved at the Swanage Railway. Photo by the Swanage Railway.
  23. A pleasant surprise when I got home today, my Class 128 parcels DMU had arrived from Revolution Trains. Luckily I’d bought a suitable decoder for it at work today, along with my blue/grey Mk2Fs and some Evergreen plastic H and L girders.
