  1. Just had orders from SWMBO to assist her in finishing a bottle of sloe gin that she thinks may be past it's sell by date, handed a glass and told take a big slug then I'll fill it up. It's a hard job but someone's got to do it.

If at first you don't succeed, try, try and try a gin.

I only started doing it seriously after I retired in 2002 and a mate and I have done it together going off 5 or 6 times a year. We both needed S wales so we bit the bullet and got a 4 day Flexi pass down there this week and pas outs from the domestic authorities. I also needed Thingley Junc to Bradford S Junc via Melksham and did that yesterday before we came home. I've kept a log since 2004 and we were going through it last night on the way back north. A lot of great memories. Now w...

  3. I've just dicovered a modelling desk in my room. I actually tidied it up and emptied it. Serious business the new control panel was on the dining room table and SWMBO was getting restless so I needed somewhere to put it. It's cheaper than divorce.

inflation passed you by Boris marriage is a £17,000 thing divorce is about £100,000 or it was when I had money.

Inflation is something that happens to airbeds and egos, a bit like evolution I think.

  4. Can I teach Minnie the cat to be a better typist when she walks across the keyboard. Shes's managed to shut the computer down once and objected to me reading a thread and not paying her attention, or possibly getting her her tea.

I agree, the one I like is that a cat graciously allows you to share its house with him/her.

  5. What a terrible way to finish the day, after the hordes had departed the boss and I doscivered that there was half a bottle of Prosecco left and it wouldn't fit in the fridge so we had to finish it.

  6. Decisions, decisions, what to do thios evening. 1. Sit on the sofa nad suffer Strictly and the X factor, 2, start the 3rd book in the Steig larsson trilogy or 3, finally take the plunge and start soldering the platform awning supports into a structure.

Well No 3 now done and photos posted in the Lancaster Green Ayre Thread, Now for a good malt and No 2.

  7. Why is correcting artwork for etches such a ballache. I suppose it's worth it in the end.

Tell me about it! I'm in the middle of doing the same.

    2. richbrummitt

      richbrummitt

Better to get it right. In this case it is probably true that the last 20% takes 80% of the effort?

    3. jamie92208

      jamie92208

Yes it's making sure that all the little black construction lines have been moved to the correct layer and hidden and all the tabs truly connect. However it is worth it in the end.

  8. Decision time, day out on the train cancelled due to weather, do i do some modelling or try and tidy the modelling room?

    2. Steve Taylor

      Steve Taylor

tidy just enough to look as though you've made an effort or to enable there to be enough room to work, then as Redgate Models says

    3. richbrummitt

      richbrummitt

Can you get in the modelling room?

      Yes - Do some modelling

No - Tidy just enough space to do some modelling.

  9. Decision time. Do I stay playing on the computer or do some tidying in the modelling room to try and find a workbench or floor.

Do some modelling is what I say to that LOL

Trouble is I need to find the workbench to do the modelling.

    3. richbrummitt

      richbrummitt

Compromise by finding the bench and leaving the floor.

  10. Finally found the 3 lost Controllers I need for Green Ayre after 4 months of searching. I'd left the box at church last time I put the layout up.

Unfortunately as a cheapskate I can only watch the cycling but can listen to TMS. That was a good compromise.

  13. Sport overload, Womes Tennis on TV (to please the bos) cricket nd cycling on the web.

      Horsetan

I once watched a women's rugby match. It turned out to be more violent than the men's.

  14. Another dilema time. Do I typeset the Wakefield Show Guide or do I start assembleing all the lovely bits of laser cut plywood I've just picked up.?

    1. eastwestdivide

      eastwestdivide

show guide - then you've got an incentive to do it AND you can come back to it and tweak it on a 2nd visit. Works for me.

  15. More choices. 1 watch X factor on catch up with SWMBO or 2 Typeset the showguide for Wakefield. It's a no brainer no 2.of course.

    1. Trebor

      Trebor

Damn,I have to do both, But she has nearly done and I am waiting on one members write up, out of 84 exhibits in total its always a member who cant deliver the goods....

  16. Must have been agood 60th birthday party last night I spent 5 minutes at the bottle bank posting the empties.

  17. Oh Dear, X Factor has restarted and Sunday morning's peace and qiuoet has been ruined as SWMBO watches it on catch up. Perhaps some modelling is the only answer.

      RedgateModels

sounds like a perfect solution to me ;)
