  1. That V2 looks like a great donor for a weathering project
  2. Hi Wibble. Congratulations on getting published in MRJ again… shame they're nearly all black & white images. Hornsey Broadway is simply stunning, even better than the impressive Wybdenshaw (what happened to that?). Are you likely to post more HB images here?
  3. Or… His pets don't smoke because he never forgets to turn off the grill in time! Sorry, I'll get me coat!
  4. Maybe he told them not to smoke because he's almost as allergic to cigarette smoke as he is to punctuation.
  5. I didn't think that I'd be contributing to this thread but I've been on a roll, modelling-wise, and went to use my tube of Squadron Products white putty to finish the job nicely… and it's gone off! It's harder than Ray Winston with two snooker balls in his sock and I have no substitute! Not happy!

    Hornby B1

Oh blimey, decisions, decisions! I bought an 'as new' Mainline B1 for a mere 35 squiddlies about three years ago and I've been thinking of plonking it onto a DB chassis as I believe the £70 kit also has all the bits to improve the body too. Hmmm, is it worth splasing out another £70 to do it with Hornby's B1 instead?…
  7. Agreed. Even with the quality of decals these days, lining is an art/craft that should not be lost
  8. Let's see if that's the case. If so, in the future it may be worth buying one for next to nothing and doing a body job on it, with the new one to compare it with.
  9. I shall be deleting several 'old' Bacchie 40s from my Ebay watch list as I just found this thread in the nick of time. Thanks GaryHN
  10. Looking good Jan… but I haven't seen your build thread
  11. Thanks again. There are many in-depth threads and blogs on modifying locos on RMweb. Some of the respondents to this thread have given me a lot of inspiration and advised me on tweaks or methods I'd never previously thought about. Let's have a link to show us your progress
  12. I'm really looking forward to seeing how you tackle 60012 Tim. I've seen some great shots of Lord Farringdon in similar sunlight and I love that combination of dirt stuck in nooks and crannies on a shiny loco - especially on green - and we don't see that too often in model form. Either it's a fettled 'out of the box' satin look, which just doesn't convince me as a realistic option, or full-on grubby filth, as you've regularly demonstrated to perfection on this thread.
  13. A really nice idea Peter and the pic does help, thanks. Also looking forward to updates on your second unit which will have the same livery as mine… when I eventually return to work on it!
  14. Flippin'eck! A Bacchie Jubilee - for only £56 - with DCC on board… absolute no-brainer even if it was purple with green spots! Nothing that a couple of decals, a lick of paint and spot of weathering couldn't sort.
