Good shout Chris, being a family business and holidays/special events etc (including one we have in the middle of May) usually mean we close the odd day here and there. We have a shop customer specific mailing list which we only recommend those that visit regularly or plan to visit anytime sign up to for updates on opening hours, shop only offers, etc. Anyone wishing to sign up can find that here.

Is there any plans to diverge the email listing so it includes other gauges? I have shopped with you a few times but as an N gauge modeller I cannot recall a single item in N gauge on there.

A large class of locos widely spread across the UK from the Somerset and Dorset to Scotland and elsewhere so actually loads of scope I would say and would fit right in with the recent Bachmann practice of different running numbers on the same base livery. Agreed the green one would be a marvellous preservation option and an ideal Collectors Club model.

They certainly were widespread in operation but my limited scope was referring to you can have lined black early crest or lined black later crest. I don't think they even had a plain black in BR Days, and certainly only 1 was green in preservation (as mentioned before).

So in that respect a 2nd run would be interesting as they have the risk of people who want one having one and no need for a 2nd, especially if they renumbered to suit their local engine. If they did a 2nd run I would definitely get a 2nd as its a lovely model. Also a 3rd if 80135 was done

I too am curious, and agree that the BR Standard 4MT Tank would be a good choice given that there has only ever been a single production run in two variants (one each of pristine late and early crest) so that's just 2008 models in all. We also know (because they were shown in EP form) that the tooling provides for a cab-side tablet-catcher recess meaning Scottish variants could be modelled (and of course weathered ones would be nice too) so plenty of scope. I am hoping that this is a loco that unlike the Fairburn (Due Nov/Dec) will be upgraded to Next 18 and DCC sound, and if that can be done in an 08 or Class 14, it should easily be possible in the 4MT Tank given it's large cab/bunker space (I have one I paid to be converted so technically no issues).

As to new "Big Four" coaches, I would be very surprised to see more mainline stock given that Bachmann have already produced stock representative of each company already - LNER Thompsons, SR Bulleids, GW Hawksworths and LMS Staniers, what would be nice would be some suburban stock such as 51ft Gresleys.

    Roy

Given the classes limited scope for models it is literally just these 2 for the 4MT 2-6-4T, but I still hope they may shrink down the artwork used in OO for 80135 in BR liner Green as preserved on the NYMR - apparently it is the person who donated it to the railway  Jos De Crau who stipulated it must always be painted BR Green - would certainly be a one off, perhaps a club model even.

I agree with the coaching stock, we have one set each for the main line big 4, what we need now is the secondary stock. Suburban and local train types. N gauge seems to be growing in popularity so time to cash in on that and boost sales further.

I would think the opposite will be the case, as the Fairburns are one of the final locos announced before transition to Quarterly announcements and deco samples have already been shown. The N Class and 4F which also pre-dated the change to Quarterly did not have multiple running numbers on a single livery variant (for example) It is only locos released since as part of Quarterly announcements that have multiple running numbers.

As Stefan said the Standard 5's had new numbers added, and of course the sound for all (doubt the Fairburn will get sound). However samples shown means nothing, Bachmann will have samples now for stuff due in the May or even August announcement but they have not shown them.

Who is to say they are not keeping those samples hidden away and only showing what is announced at shows

I'm curious if we get many Variants like for the BR Standard 5MT or the LMS Diesel Twins...

My guess is there will be extras, every model so far seems to have had new running numbers or livery variations land with the previously announced batch, just a cae of duplicate liveries so 2 numbers of one livery, or a new livery to the production batch

Should you need to bolster numbers, don't forget pairs of outers in the middle of a set, coupled buffer to buffer are common to see

    Jo

Thanks, I had not thought of that. Doesn't seem to be a shortage of outers at present

When, rather than if, by the sound of it.

I hope you are right, only reason I ask is given some shops crashed their prices to around 50% off it doesn't usually bode well to me for something to get a 2nd run when cut by that much to clear, but we can live in hope

Therein lies the dilemma. When we do the next batch, do we change the colour to silver or keep the grey to maintain compatibility?

I am inclined towards the latter but would be interested to hear others opinions on this matter.

    Hi Adam

What is the chances of a 2nd run happening? I am starting to build up a train but the centre hoppers in original Yeoman are becoming scarce. Wondering if I should start a train knowing a new run will help me complete it or will I have to resort to ebay "bargains"

I hope Bachmann will bring also Thompson Suburbans in the future.

Realistically it is unlikely as Hornby produce them in OO so they are not going to be come part of the OO range and thus share research costs etc. I could be proved wrong but most models are in both ranges so clearly they see the benefit of sharing the costs out

Will do a full review for NGN at some point in the next week if I can squeeze it in around moving house!

I think you need to get your priorities right here 😅

Good luck with the house move

  11. Whilst not a lot after a bumper 2023 I think the big thing to take from this is the Twins, they represent a significant investment in tooling that presents a limited return - how many people here will buy more than 2? My Dad is suggesting getting one each between us, so we won't be rushing for a 2nd pair even in on the other colour.

Yes they could have chosen a more numerous type a new 37 perhaps with sound etc. but we have seen an investment into a limited appeal model that is usually the domain of OO models. I think we can safely say all this talk of Bachmann not investing into N gauge is untrue now as the last few announcements have shown otherwise.

Yes there is still gaps - I need some more Mk2 or Mk2A TSO's, a 37/4 in intercity, OTA Timber wagons amongst others, but I am happy to see the twins as part of the range. Now if there is a market for them perhaps the designers could look at those SDJR 7F 2-8-0 drawings they used for the OO one and put it through the shrink ray 🤞

I am actually really proud of our 59 and I believe the vast majority of our customers will be pleased. Even though I am modelling 80s ScotRail, I may well pick up a National Power Blue example, simply because I love the colours.

59104 was trialled by BR on freight workings over Shap, could always rewrite history and say it was a national power one and they went further northshowimage.php?id=352454&key=4912992

If they announce a Class 25/3, a class 117 DMU, Mk1 POT TPO stowage coaches, 37350/D6700 in BR green, Tiphook KPA bogie hoppers, POA scrap wagons, 55002 in two tone green with full yellow ends and OTA timber wagons I’ll be surprised, delighted and poor in equal measure.

If its any comfort they won't do D6700/37350 this quarter. I have a 37 put to one side to head off for conversion as 37350 in 80's token green repaint. Will be the quarter after that it comes 😅

  14. Paint would be mixed locally at the time of use, so a different person on a different day in a different works would make the blue for one loco over possibly the other. Then if you factor in time since repaint and the effects of wind, rain and sun no 2 locos would appear the same at any time.

To me the 2nd one looks more ex-works than the 1st but both look close to BR blue to me

IC Mainline has been done on the OO 401 so wouldn't over surprise me if it pops up on a refreshed version one day.

This is my logic/hope, they seem to use the artwork prep to make N gauge versions so hopefully the intercity 37401 can be shrunk this year. If they do I may end up buying  a few for renumbering

Were I wishlisting, which of course I never would, I still hold out hope for an OTA

That makes 2 of us, preferably with an intercity mainline 37/4 to go with it - this is the last main livery to be done on the 37/4's since the retool and anyone modelling Scotland or Buxton in the 80's or 90's needs at least once

Date of the 7th confirmed on the main Bachmann thread. I suspect that we will see more 158's liveries announced.

I am not sure, they have done 2 batches alreasy. My predictions is another batch of class 47's possibly one as part of the collectors club

Im at a bit of a loss as to why Dapol have gone up against Revolution with the class 59

I am sure others can correct me on this but I am sure I read years ago model company's have a "line in the sand" moment in product development and once you pass that you have to keep on going regardless owing to costs. If this is the case and Dapol passed their line in the sand point when Revolution announced there's they had to keep going.

Might be a small class but the livery variation is higher than some more numerous classes

Anyone else playing the game of "I don't really need it, but if I wait they may drop their prices but if I wait to long

    they'll all be sold"?

Yes, I was waiting to see what happened to 2 Farish tank engines they had but they suddenly went so I guess I lost that game

  20. I would certainly be up for a rake of these. Still undecided if I want JHA or PTA behind my Yeoman and ARC 59 from Revolution. So one set of each would not be a bad thing
