  1. I'm sure I can find something else to do that day. I know, I'll delegate it to Terry....😅
  2. The Stafford Railway Circle will be holding its Spring Show on Saturday 20th May. A showcase for club layouts, some of which are new to the circuit. An opportunity to come and see what we are doing and to mingle and converse with like minded people. See https://www.staffordrailwaycircle.org.uk/stafford-spring-show/ for details.
  3. Re the show guide, as SRC Webmaster, I am looking at how we can provide the info via the website for future shows. Also, thanks for all the positive feedback. It was a lot of hard work by a lot of people but we feel it all went well.
  4. This one seems to have got lost below the radar. A show that encompasses the atmosphere of a Victorian pumping station with a model railway and engineerring show. See here: http://www.claymills.org.uk/
  5. I was going through my DCC box the other day and came across this. There is no brand/ID on it. The only thing written on it is CONTROL 9. Presumably it is a stationary decoder of some sort and an ID would be useful. Anybody any ideas?
  6. In association with the Stafford Railway Circle there will be an exibition showcasing members' layouts on Saturday 18th June at Berkswich Methodist Church Hall, The Rise, Stafford, ST17 0LH. Full details here: https://www.staffordrailwaycircle.org.uk/stafford-midsummer-model-railway-exhibition/ Please note: this is not to be confused with the main Stafford show in September!
  7. Sorry if anybody has already raised this (nothing came up in a search) - I recently invested in a Roco DR BR106 shunter. According to the "drawing" in the instructions it appears that it has a factory fitted speaker for DCC sound. I haven't mastered how to take the cab off yet for fear of damaging so I'm wondering if anybody knows the answer. It has a Plux 22 interface which, again, according to the instructions, has pins for the speaker connections. Thanks in advance.
  8. The turnouts were medium. I say "were" as the layout was sold a couple of years ago. For my latest see "Catsfield" in November 2021 BRM magazine and "Rushwick", very similar to Ashbourne, in the September 2021 BRM.
  9. Without wishing to hijack Andy's thread, here are a couple more pictures of Catsfield (note correct spelling Andy! ). I really must get round to putting a thread up myself...
  10. Intersting. Any chance of a scan so I could see them?
  11. I will be another one watching with interest as I was born in Wallingford and my maternal grandfather was a signalman at Cholsey in the 1950s and 60s. I spent many hours up there with him when I was a young trainspotter. There is a video on Youtube (tried to find it but couldn't!) documenting the last train from Wallingford in 1957(?) which might be of interest. There was a Wild Swan book on the Wallingford branch which had historic photos and diagrams for Cholsey station. Out of print now probably but no doubt available through used book suppliers. Good luck with the project.
  12. Ian Kinsey says "Are you desperate for money?"
  13. I will be there with Ryburgh. Look forward to seeing old friends and new faces there.
  14. Thanks you all for your feedback. Judging by the comments here and from visitors at the show, everybody had a good day. As usual, I have to thank everybody involved - exhibitors, traders, helpers and visitors - because without any of you, it wouldn't be a success. I was a bit concerned early on as for the first time since I started organising shows (TVNAM in 2010), there was no queue outside the door at 10 o'clock! Given the foul weather, I suppose it's not surprising. Anyaway, the numbers did pick up later and looking at the figures, the show didn't make a loss and there might be few pennies lef tin the piggy bank to consider it again next year. Here are some photos grabbed when I had a chance to go round: Once again, many thanks to all and watch this space re next year...
  15. Looking good John. I shall look forward to seeing it in the flesh tomorrow.
  16. Will look forward to seeing you David (and Sue no doubt!).
  17. Only just over a week to go so I'm trying to shoe-horn everything in. I took some advice from my mentor last night, Colin Hill who organises things at Stafford every year, and we thnik we can just baout get it all in! I have had requests from a couple of local traders - Nick Smith and Toby Wood - who will be there with some interesting accessories and laser cut kits.
  18. Shame about the mis-creiting of Ryburgh to Stu Davies.
  19. I used Jack's Box St idea for one of my first small layouts. I built it with a German theme and it was one of the most enjoyable layouts I have built. He will be sadly missed.
  20. Good afternoon all, It's rapidly approaching. Another addition to the layouts: Florida Highland - HO: Jez New. See http://www.midlandshowcase.co.uk/florida.html.

Thanks to those who supported the show last year and are prepared to come back again - must be doing something right! As usual, it will be a relaxed and enjoyable day and most likely, you will get the chance to have a go on some of the layouts. So please come along for a good day out. 23. At the Stafford Railway Circle we have decided to dip our toes into the water of the modular concept. Born out of a comment by some club members that they didn't feel involved it was decided to give members the opportunity to build their own module that can be worked on both at the club and at home, the latter, of course, is not possible with a large club layout. Having several years of experience in US outline Freemo I have taken on the role of leading the project. We had our first meeting in early July and progress has been good with the first base boards already constructed. Hopefully, by our next meeting in mid-September, we will have track down on modules and maybe even in a position to actually run something. If anybody in the surrounding area is interested in finding out more, please PM me.
