  1. A retooled Class 42 Swindon Warship would be very welcome. And how about a Class 120 DMU?
  2. A conversion of the venerable Corgi Ferrymasters Scammell Handyman into a Trunker2 using parts from a WSI MAN.
  3. Just a quick note for anyone driving to the event, the parking at the Museum is very expensive, the Long Stay at the Railway Station likewise. The best option would be to use the Park and Ride Service from Rawcliffe Bar, at the junction of the A1237 and the A19 to the North of the city. It is a ten-minute ride to the museum, around 20-25 minutes on the return journey (the bus has to negotiate a bit of the city centre), and buses run until after 2200 on both Saturday and Sunday. Hope this helps.
  4. Thanks to John, all the team, the exhibitors and traders for putting on another excellent show, it was well worth the long wait. I visited the show twice over the course of the weekend, this afternoon as things quietened down a bit I got all my shopping done and revisited a lot of layouts that were wedged on Saturday. It seems the best time to visit if you don't have a long journey home. Looking forward to the next one already.
  5. This is good advice. I have just had a similar experience with my previously faultless NCE powercab. The handset was shutting down every 3 or 4 seconds and not progressing to the main display. I tried swapping the 1.65 version chip for the previous 1.3 chip, tried the original two-pin power supply, pulled most of my hair out. Then I read here about shorts on the track. I started to disconnect feeds to the power bus and isolated the fault almost straight away. It is definitely worth some investigation before laying out money on replacement power supply, leads, etc.
  6. Made it to the show this morning then got stuck in one of the slightly sloping car parks. (Rear wheel drive and wide tyres really not a clever choice) A massive thank you to the three kind gentlemen who assisted in getting me back to the road. The main carpark beyond the hall was clear of snow and ice thankfully. The show itself was excellent and good value for money I thought. HLJ is very impressive, the nearest thing to actual trainspotting I have ever seen on a layout and very atmospheric. There were some excellent layouts on show around the hall and a decent number of traders, especially for the model engineers. Highly recommended if you can make it tomorrow.

  9. Enjoyed visiting the show today, my first in almost two years. The venue is excellent, spacious with wide aisles, and lots of free parking on site. We spent a long time watching the goings on at Grantham and had a good look at all the layouts. Favourites for me were diesel themed Reevy Rd West and Wardwood. Trade support was good and varied too. Can't vouch for the catering because we didn't find time to sample the delights unfortunately. Highly recommended if you can get there tomorrow!

  11. Thanks for the suggestions Ian and Ron. Before resetting the system I decided to have another go which gave the same results, Macros 3 to 9 all empty. I figured I must be inputting them incorrectly so tried again but reviewed each one after inputting. So far the system is remembering them all. I think it is the last step in the process which I possibly wasn't completing correctly, "if you want to enter less than 8 accessories, leave the accessory # blank (just press ENTER)". I think I was just pressing PROG/ESC to move onto the next macro. So, hopefully, thats it sorted but I will report back if I encounter the same issue again.

After being switched off for a few months my powercab has forgotten all it's macro settings apart from No.1 I have re-programmed all the required Macros ( I only need nine in total), switched off the system then switched back on and it has only remembered No.1 and No.2 Selecting any of the other seven macros brings up the 'macro is empty' message. I've never had this problem before so just wondering if the system has gone faulty? Any advice would be very welcome. Thanks.

  14. Just jumping back a bit, the gear knob on the Chopper is absolutely correct for a Mk1, it was the Mk2 onwards that got the T-bar shifter.
