These look great, especially the topless version on the disused platform. Eat your heart out Mr Ratio....

The 2mm mag just reached Switzerland, great to see your write-up, a very nice round-up. I hope you keep this blog going from time to time ... I take the point about "overcooking" but I'm sure you will be fiddling with stock from time to time, and it would be nice to see a short video if the layout's not going to leave Barcelona again for a while ;-)
cheers

That's a great shot... hard to believe it's 2mm. Looking forward to seeing it (again!) in the flesh at the Expo!
You're a bit quiet on the motive power front recently, but it's hard to believe something's not brewing there....?
cheers

That looks great. Looks like rain though, best make for the booking office. When's the train due?
I like the boat, but if you're not happy with it and still want to add something to the quay wall, the prototype had two chambers set into it which disappeared under the quay. One of them's here: The metal strapping on the wooden rubbing posts is also eye-catching, one of these nice little rhythmic details which work so well in 2mm.
thanks for keeping posting these

Sounds like we can look forward to a good few updates in Jan. then, great stuff Pete... please keep posting.
How are you aiming to tackle the roof slates?

Looks great, very impressive - not least marking out and cutting accurately so everything stays in register along the whole building. How do you do that? draw all the layers one above each other on a single sheet of card with a T-square before cutting? or is it just very careful work with a ruler?
Are you sure you've still got all your fingers?

Hi Pete... your photo of a Dapol 26 on your Kyle boxfile helped convince me to order one! I saw you posted recently about your TPM 26/1, and that put me on to their website as a source of oval buffers, headcode discs and snowploughs if I want to tart up my Dapol one. Is that the best way to go or are there other options?
Are you still thinking of doing a boxfile Thurso? I would love to see that - I got a hurl from Thurso to Georgemas and back in the brakevan of the branch goods in 1974, courtesy of the friendly train crew. I was twelve... I didn't come back down to earth for about a week...
cheers

Brilliant, I think I'll do that then. Thanks very much Andy.

Hi, thanks for the friendly welcomes. Don, thanks - interesting to learn you were 2mm before 7mm - I've been a VAG member for a while but pretty much in receive-only mode. As such I've appreciated the contributions you all make there. Jerry - I've enjoyed seeing your current layout online, in print, and in the flesh (at an Expo)... I am hoping to model a 4-4-0-infested branch line at the top end of the country (Macduff). But there are too many distractions along the way! Pete - I really enjoy your notebook-jotting sessions, and the Kyle layout. Thanks for all the inspiration.

Thicken the whisky tin metal by gluing on a suitable washer, then use the grommet :-)
