Hello Chris (lmsforever)
I believe that the first RAILEX at the Civic Centre in Aylesbury was on the 8th April 1978 about a year and a half after it was built, we have documents that shows for Railex in 1978 that the admission charge was 35p. Also I did have a link to a VAMES newsletter of 1978, which I think stated inside that the Railex 1 was on that year.
We had our last exhibition at the Civic Centre in 2004, then RAILEX moved to Stoke Mandeville Stadium for its first exhibition in 2005, where we have had 15 exhibitions at the Stadium so far.
So a total of 42 so far with the 43rd to come in 2020. But I could be wrong, as the exhibition may have been held in the Old Assembly rooms in Aylesbury before 1978, which would make it even older!
If I find out anymore I we reply to this thread.
Though as I know that you were around at the time maybe you have an idea?
Thanks

Hello All
I am seriously tempted by 1622, as I have found a Club photo from our archive, that shows this loco at Chinnor in the time frame that she was allocated to Slough, between 1962 and 1964.

Hello Mike
The layout Hexworth (Market Street) appeared in Model Rail Supplement No 16, in February 1992.
I only have the supplement not the actual Rail Magazine, but having a look round, I think that it could have come from either Rail Magazine 167 or 168, both came out in February 1992.
Thanks

Hello
I can think of two,
The first is Monks Risborough on the Princes Risborough to Aylesbury branch. Back in the timeframe that you are looking at, this was only one coach long, so you had to be in the first coach of the class 115 unit to be able to get on or off. This changed later in the late 1990s when it was rebuilt to accommodate at least 4 coaches, but is still wooden, but has concrete supports.
The second is Lake on the Isle of Wight, which is between Sandown and Shanklin, it was opened in 1987.

Hello All
If you arrive at the stadium early and buy a ticket, you can either buy something to eat and drink before the show opens, or take a seat on the balcony over looking the exhibition and watch the part of setting up.
We have lockers that rucksacks and other stuff can be left while you wander round the show.
Thanks

Hello All
Just a point on parking, it does get busy at the stadium, it will fill up quickly, as we only have a few hundred free places, once these are full you will be directed by our stewards to park in the hospital, we have hired one of the hospital staff car parks like in previous years, though this is likely this will fill too. Please be patient with the stewards as they will endeavour to find you a space as quickly as they can.
There will be plenty of spaces in the adjacent hospital car parks as these are lightly used at weekends, but these charge, there are pay and display plus take your ticket and pay as you leave barrier type parking. If unsure please double check where you are parking, as you don't want to end up with a ticket! Please do not park in staff only carparks.
As has been suggested many times park at the Friarscroft carpark by Morrisons in the town centre and get our vintage bus in from Aylesbury Railway Station carpark, there is a short walk from the Elm Farm Shops bus stop to the exhibition.
Thanks

Risborough & District MRC Annual Open Day 5th Oct

Hello Dan
You are more than welcome to come along to see what we get up to, have a chat and a cuppa!
As far as I can recall, at the moment we only have one N scale modeller in our Club, he is our Chairman who models railways in the Netherlands, he will be there with no doubt a display and some modelling, for his home layout that he is building.
This does not mean that you could not join us on a Friday Night and start an N gauge section, as we encourage a wide range of interests and abilities at the Club.
We do have a test track night once a month, and this dose have an N gauge loop on it if you would like to bring along trains to run.
Thanks
