  1. Very pleased to hear that your kit has arrived Neil. As you say the whole thing is very murky. That email address is one of the three that I emailed, but no response from. Oh well, I have at least had my money refunded by PayPal, but I won't risk it again.
  2. Re the non delivery of my Modelux kit, and claim for a refund, I have now received full reimbursement from PayPal. There has still not been any response to my various messages to the seller, which is disgraceful.
  3. Just for fun I went through the eBay listings for Modelux kits: Three sellers, but maybe only two in reality? railwaymodelsuk - Newark & Retford sawo_9014 - Ripon uk-bridge-tech - Retford This Glynn chap has lived in Newark & Retford according to the publicly available info. Fingers crossed I get a refund soon, and your kit turns up.
  4. Many thanks Neil for the details of your experience, so far. I ordered through the website, but paid an extra £5 for postage for the kit I ordered. The Modelux website email address, glynn@modelux.store, corresponds with the forename of the chap named by PayPal as the man that my money was sent to. Whether or not this chap, Glynn, is the same person as sawo_9014 on eBay is anyone's guess. I wonder if 'drop & go' is being used by a variety of people selling Modelux kits? It's all very odd to be honest. I was able to find out more about this Glynn chap, using publicly available info that he has posted himself. I think he perhaps, with others, is just acting as a store front for the chap that actually designs and produces, and maybe despatches, the kits. Anyway, he is the man that got my money, and has so far failed to send the kit, or respond to my queries. PayPal will refund my money in due course as I paid via them, but I could have potentially lost £33 if I had paid by another method. I don't expect super quick service from a one man band doing it as a hobby, and I fully appreciate that the kits have to be laser cut, and overlays printed etc, but a quick email giving an update is not hard to do nowadays. Especially when the customer has made repeated efforts to contact the vendor. I compare this experience to one I had with Captain Shrapnel, who I ordered a model off a few days ago. Fantastic service which included frequent updates on the order progress, tracking number, estimated time of delivery etc. The seller did indicate that he was on holiday during the time I ordered, and there would be a delay, but there was no delay at all in my case. And this guy is also a one man band, not a big company. I hope, Neil, you get your kit soon 🤞
  5. I would avoid Modelux like the plague. Ordered a kit from them three weeks ago via their, then working, website, got an acknowledgement, stating they would contact me again when the kit was despatched. Since then, nothing has been received. Facebook messages, and emails to them, are unanswered, a forum PM to this lady Gillian, who has some connection to them is unread. The website is effectively down, and it looks as though they have no intention of sending me the kit, or refunding the money. I paid via PayPal, so will lodge a complaint with them shortly, and see if there is anything they can do. All very disappointing, and if anyone has any advice to give, then I would be very grateful. *** UPDATE *** Lodged a complaint with PayPal regarding non delivery and non communication. In the process I was given the email address of the person behind the website. Further research reveals that the gentleman has made a number of YouTube videos under a 'nickname'. Some detailing construction of Modelux kits. However, I think this chap is not the original designer/maker of the range.
  6. I will be on the door/helping out at the Thorncombe exhibition this Saturday if anyone is travelling over to deepest Dorset! Twas my old club when I lived in Seaton, so keep in touch with one of the boys there. See, nothing like a good old model railway exhibition to get over a bad day!
  7. I'm not saying any more than this: After spending Friday and Saturday in bed with flu I then struggled up to Cardiff on Sunday to see one of the worst performances by a bunch of overpaid footballers I have ever seen in my life. Cardiff were not very good in the first half, but Swansea were frankly an absolute disgrace in the second half. We were deservedly beaten by a team that actually seemed to think the derby was a bit more important than just another game. Must admit I thought our singing and support was far better than the Red/Bluebirds until you scored that goal, then you lot seemed to realise you weren't in a library! Funniest bit was when 2300 Jacks pointed at the Malaysian flag and demanded to know what it was (doing there), albeit in slightly ruder terminology! Ah well, return fixture in February, let's hope by then that some Jack asses have been kicked by Laudrup and our lot of prima Donnas realise they have to earn the fans' respect again!
  8. I've got the Kevlar full body armor on order... ;-) Hope to see you on Saturday anyway :-)
  9. Hope to make it to the museum on Saturday Shaun. Busy weekend as I have got a ticket for a certain Welsh football match on Sunday as well!
  10. Hi Graham, pray tell me more :-) Is it the Thorncombe show?
  11. Very good show today in a nice venue. Made full use of the free bus to and from Cardiff Central. Some excellent layouts, and good to see Brian operating Ranelagh Bridge, and Dave operating Minster.
  12. I will certainly come and say hello to you Dave
  13. I'm coming up to the Cardiff show on 19th October (two weeks today) on the train. Wife and youngest daughter going shopping whilst I pay a visit to the exhibition :-) Anyone else going to be in attendance?
  14. Hi Marc I had no idea the Mach show was on until I saw the leaflet. I had already got tickets for the computer show, so it was a fluke really I guess! Should be a good day out anyway
  15. Hi Mike Morley I picked up a leaflet at the Aberaeron show yesterday for the Machynlleth show, and it's definitely at The Plas. I checked the venue's website and the exhibition is mentioned there as well. http://www.plasmachynlleth.co.uk/index.php/en/what-s-on#year=2013&month=8&day=12&view=month Purely by chance I am going to be in Machynlleth on the 24th (Saturday) for a computer type show with my son, and was pleasantly surprised to find out that the venues are almost across the road from each other! In fact I do believe the entire family is now going to come with us and have a day out!
  16. Nice to see everyone on Saturday in Newport, daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Hopefully meet again at Cardiff, or Swansea in the not so distant future.
  17. Don't think I will make the L&B show this year, but Cardiff in October is more likely. Hope to get to the Swansea Model Rail Weekend on 31 Aug & 1 Sep at the maritime museum as well.
  18. Seems there were more than a few RMwebbers in Newport yesterday! Sorry I didn't get to meet you Danemouth, maybe next time?
  19. Rail tickets bought this morning, drinks and food for journey also bought, and possibility of a cousin coming along to Newport show as well :-)
  20. Looking more than likely I will be there on Saturday Marc
  21. Like the musical choice! Fingers crossed I will make Newport on the Saturday Marc.
  22. Update: May have a found a 'victim' to accompany me to the Newport show, may have to put up with constant chat about Wrong Direction and other dismal boy bands throughout the journey, but one must do what one must do!
  23. Thanks boys for the update. Just considering the Newport show actually. Not too far to walk from railway station to the venue. Always wanted to walk across that bridge, memory of mine from the frequent railway trips I did as a youngster when we passed through Newport. Sadly my old knees aren't up to long walks or drives nowadays, but this looks very doable. Have to persuade a child to come with me though!
  24. Hi all Any news on the L+B exhibition. Not seen any mentions anywhere. TIA
