  1. The wiring for a diode-matrix is shown in the book 'Electronics and Wiring for Model Railways' by Andrew Duckworth. Unfortunately, there are quite a few errors within the book so beware. For the diode-matrix, the section is meant to show what is required for a diagram on page 100, but the text refers to the diagram on page 27, with the same layout but different point numbers. Still, you should be able to discern what is required. Tom
  2. A picture in the book 'The District Controller's View - The M&SWJR' shows the Southampton - Cheltenham train on the 4th of August 1956. The manor hauling it had failed at Ludgershall and had to replaced by the engine on the local goods train, which was a 2251 class engine. The train had been strengthened from 3 coaches to 8 coaches, and was over the limit for a 2251 class loco, however no other engine was available at Ludgershall or Swindon, so the 0-6-0 took the train all the way to Cheltenham. The book shows the train at Cirencester. The identifiable coaches are of GWR design (Hawksworth,Collett,Collett). Tom
  3. My subscription copy arrived this morning. Tom
  4. On the Mortonhampstead branch line list, the station at Lustleigh seems to be missing!
  5. My subscription copy arrived this morning, in Hemel Hempstead. This was a relief as plan B is not feasible as they have closed the local W H Smiths. A trip to St Albans is the alternative now. Another subscription magazine arrived at the same time, this one being 6 days after publication day. It has never been late before so I presume the strikes, mourning and everything else is causing extraordinary delays.
  6. On the question of horn-blocks, I would go for the High-level ones every time. I tried to use the perseverance ones once, but then switched to High-level. I assembled 6 High-level in the time I had been struggling with a perseverance one, and getting nowhere.
  7. Another thought - the current management of Hornby only came into force in 2017 (according to wikipedia). The previous management was not 'in-tune' with the market and would think that not renewing a license agreement was a reasonable cost-cutting measure.
  8. I have tried to attach the Puffers catalogue from 2006. I hope it helps. It does list Westward loco kits, but from personal experience, it was not that simple. PricelistforPuffersProducts2006.doc

  12. In the instructions it states 3'9" - 10 spoke. There is a mention that there is limited clearance if 16mm wheels are used! Tom
  13. I think the current sets are set up to pick-up from the axles, just like the originals. But I agree, you will need a back-to-back gauge. Lima wheel set Tom
  14. I've attempted to send scanned copies of the instructions for the Westward kit to you. Any problems - contact me. Tom

  23. In 1896, the M&SWJR had 15 cattle wagons built to the Midland Railway design, on steel underframes. All of them passed to the GWR on grouping. Tom Source - Midland & South Western Junction Railway volume 3 - carriages and wagons, by Wild Swan Publications. Tom
