  1. Sadly, this has gone up to £49.50 for this year making it very expensive if you can only visit once a year, especially for those on fixed incomes such as Senior Citizens.
  2. As a longtime subscriber to BRM my concern is the comment above by the OP that “the number of pages devoted to the prototype railway will be similar”. Does this mean that the modelling content of BRM magazine will be reduced or will the number of pages be increased? There are many magazines relating to the prototype railway already, some of which I purchase so don’t need another. Certainly D & E locos are not my scene anyway.
  3. The loco is showing as in stock on the Hornby website today (23rd December) if you are still interested. Brian
  4. Strangely enough, as of this evening, the Deltic sound fitted version has become available to preorder on the Hornby website but the non sound version is now no longer available.
  5. Sorry Andy, I could have phrased my posting more delicately!
  6. Never mind Rod Stewart, I’d have Montana on my layout anytime! As well as Simon of course.
  7. Class 9f locos were rostered for passenger services on the Somerset & Dorset line and one was used for the very last “Pines Express”.
  8. Wonder what’s happened.
  9. Andy York posted the details on the first page of this thread, 10am on January 10th.
  10. Unfortunately the 1950 map shows the layout at Barking after the massive remodelling that took place around the mid-50’s prior to electrification of the LTSR route. Before that time there was a very complex junction at the Southend/Tilbury side of the station whereby trains from Forest Gate had to cross both the Underground lines and Southend lines to access the route to Tilbury. There was also a very large signal box at this position.
  11. If you could find a 1950’s track layout before it was remodelled for O/H electrification, Barking LTSR station was a very interesting 4-way junction with the added bonus of the District Line underground route as well.
  12. That’s my birthday!! Surely SK and Montana will deliver my birthday wish for some Gresley Quad-Art coaches!
  13. Betty’s Husband, only Collectors Club members could order the model as you know and it is unavailable for anyone to order on Hornby’s website I’m afraid. I must have been one of the last to order it as only a few minutes after I placed my order the “Unavailable” notice appeared.
  14. Well, not all retailers are paragons of virtue. Last year I registered with a well known retailer (who regrettably is also a member on this forum), to be notified via his website when a particular limited edition Hornby model came into stock. My request was totally ignored and when the model did become available they were not sold via his physical shop at normal retail price but at a grossly inflated price on eBay! I know that at least 4 of his allocation were sold that way. Over the years I have spent a considerable amount with this retailer but never again. Perhaps Hornby are saying that they don’t like this way of treating customers.
  15. Then why complain about the Company? At the end of the day, Hornby make thousands of products each year that people like. The fact that they don’t make what you want is not their problem.
  16. And of course, these losses are only for the Six months up to the end of September! I bet senior management are hoping for a bumper sales period over the next month to claw some of those losses back.
  17. Ah yes, but remind me which loco, out of Caerphilly Castle and Flying Scotsman is still running!
  18. From what I recall, Beatties supplied their own product for the show and were most upset when their name wasn’t mentioned.
  19. Another one from days past I also think it involved the Blue Peter programme. They were making a model railway scene using “Beattie Plast” modelling compound but the presenters called it “Mod Rock”.
  20. Having seen him operate his carpet layout using a variac transformer and blowing his mains supply in doing so, I wouldn’t trust this numpty with anything. The way he connects his controller to the track also leaves a lot to be desired. His other constant carp is always about model cost. Frankly, if he objects to the cost, do what many others do and don’t buy it, simples.
  21. As on previous threads about Locomotion Models, they are an appalling company to deal with, they are, or almost impossible to contact by phone or E-mail.
  22. The July 2022 issue of Hornby Magazine gives all the details you will need to do this…………..and fit sound. Hope this helps.
  23. Sadly, like many others, you have discovered that trying to contact Locomotion Models is like trying to pick up a jelly. They are the most difficult organisation to contact and I sometimes wonder just how they survive in business. The usual excuse has been that they are so busy they have not had time to reply but this problem has been ongoing since they released the GNR Single model some years ago which was well before the covid outbreak. Someone called Stuart used to be a member on the forum and worked in the shop at Shildon, so it might be worth a look on the Locomotion threads to see if his contact details are there somewhere.
