  1. Perhaps Ealing's model isnt so bad afterall....
  2. No idea, the words were too big for me. I was offering this up as anecdotal support, not conclusive proof!
  3. I've always thought we must have the biggest gap between perceived intelligence (best education system in the world etc) and reality. Then I read somewhere that in a survey, only 2% rated themselves below average!
  4. That has rather obliquely reminded me of the Whirlybirds, featuring a cool helicopter and smaller rubbish one, which was on my parents' approved tv watching along with Zorro and Champion the Wonder Horse.
  5. At least it is correctly listed as used. 99% of ebay sellers would call that brand new.
  6. Big Break - aptly named for Paul McGann and also had Robert Lindsay in. About 45 years ago there was a kids programme which featured an incredibly hot girl* who I was in love with but sadly her TB meant she couldnt run away in time when a tree fell on her. Made a big impression on both of us! *for a 6 year old, 45 years ago.
  7. I stand corrected! Seems there were about 100 prototypes for everything if my maths is right!
  8. Cunning but I didnt think these ever wore plain crimson as they were treated as mainline stock (lined crimson and cream) I think? I've never seen one.
  9. I've just made a similar master for autocoach seats. Do you make several moulds for small stuff like this or are you able to mix very mall quantities of resin? Or it a case of making one every time you are already making other castings?
  10. Sounds like you've already progressed way beyond novice and onto tried and tested techniques!
  11. To be fair there are only about 3 posts on this entire thread that are on topic.
  12. Presumably they made chassis in various standard lengths and not all completely random? I actually quite like the longer ones of which there are plenty of photos around but I've no idea what wheelbase these would have been.
  13. I'd be interested in the dimensions - I genuinely think its about right between wheels and only looks odd due to that low body which throws the proportions but i'm far from an expert and having a real example would be handy.
  14. Well the first part of that sounds familiar!
  15. So which one did you think we were struggling with?! Mount Everest (3) took me longest to spot. Kept me quiet though so happy to have another one next weekend please!
  16. You could probably rework each casting a little bit but the other thing is the sheets were flat originally and the classic tent later, so doing one covered form would immediately rule out two sets of purchasers! I'd imagine the master will be needed again in future but I dont know whether a sheet could be added to a casting (I'd probably use modelling clay so I could sand it to shape) and then make a second mould from that?
  17. Just stumbled on this that I couldn't find the other day - have a look at May 21st, one page from the end. The Bedford flatbed conversion makes the chassis look fairly normal.
  18. Er.... Hate to put a dampener on things but who has said you are an exception???!!! This will be the first year in his adult life that my 73 year old Dad hasn't played cricket but with covid etc he just doesnt feel like it at the moment even though technically they have restarted, albeit with no tea or beer! Seems a real shame for him not to finish on his own terms and we are all hoping come next year and (hopefully) things improved, the enthusiasm will be back. Just one of many examples but my point is its affected many people in strange ways and I wouldn't give anything too much thought at the moment and just get through to next year and see how things are then. (I say this while putting the house on the market as ive had enough of it!) Chin up!
