  1. Hi can anyone help? I used to live a stones throw from the Leeds to York line. Near Neville Hill Depot, I have a memory of an unidentified class 37 in triple grey with LoadHaul branding? Travailing light engine from Neville Hill after dropping off fuel tanks for the depot. Am I imagine the livery? Or did LoadHaul put the branding on a triple grey 37?...

any help would be most appreciated! As it’s driving me insane!

    cheers, Steve

  2. Hi Guys,

Hoping someone on the forum can help, I’ve decided to dip my toe into continental n gauge. I’ve bought viessmann colour light signals and a couple of their control modules, to have a play with! I’ll be controlling the signals with push button switches. Now my question is can I power more than one signal from the control module to keep costs down?! Or is it one module per signal?

Any help is really helpful and much appreciated

    Best regards

    Steve

  3. Thanks Simon that's really helpful. I did wonder if you had gone in from behind!

    Regards Steve

    Thanks for the comments Steve.

To remove the nose ends, I just used a small flat blade screwdriver to gently lever the nose from the body, note I did little bit on each side to slowly remove the ends, see pic below.

The ends on 37239 & 37514 seemed to come off with not too much effort. However on 37406 I took my time as there was more glue I suspect on them and I did not want to damage the body or the nose ends at one point I was nearly going to leave one end of 37406 in situ! I would not try and do it from the outside of the body as the visible moulding detail will easily get marked.

    Cheers

    Simon

  4. Hi Guys,

I will apologise in advance if this has been covered in another post? I've got a Dapol class 33 and I've chipped it with an ESU decoder. The problem is the chip is still a bit big for the available space and was wondering what decoders you guys have used!

    Many thanks in advance

    Steve

  5. Hi Stuart, glad things are moving forward with the layout. I completely agree with the 56 it is a beautiful model hence why I got the railfreight grey version too. Not much I'm afraid work and home commitments have sapped a lot of modelling time. But I'm hoping to get a project started soon.

  6. Ok as promised a run through on bogie lifting.

Step one, cut off the four corners of the bogie frame with a scary sharp scalpel as near to the frame as you can.

    attachicon.gif20140124_221652.jpg

Next flip the bogie right side up and cut the cross beams from the middle portion. It needs cutting where it joins the gear box cover. Notice the cranked beams. This is what helps you. The flat parts which join the frames are going to end up flush with the gearbox bottom.

    attachicon.gif20140124_221801.jpg

    You end up with this.

    attachicon.gif20140124_221921.jpg

You then need to trim off the cranked bits of the frame crossbeams to get this.

    attachicon.gif20140124_222007.jpg

Now you need to cut yourself 4No 2.5mm x 10mm strips of thin (10thou I think) plasticard. I use black as I prefer it in stock. But white painted after should do. These are then MEKed onto the bottom of the gearbox where the beams joined on.

    attachicon.gif20140124_222713.jpg

The bogie frames are then fixed with their little tabs to the top of the plastic strips and the ends to the end stretchers again but a tad higher up.

    attachicon.gif20140124_223233.jpg

What you end up with is this.

    attachicon.gif20140124_223349.jpg

Just let the MEK fully dry and clip back on. Job done. I timed the second bogie out of curiosity and it took me 7 minutes which all in means 15mins for the whole loco. Well worth the effort I think!

Hi Cav, could you please tell me where you get your 10 thou plasticard from. As i can only find white and would prefer black.

    Regards Steve.
