look what was lurking under my tree...

even I am beginning to think the junction is too complicated... I should draw a track plan... one day.
86 on parcels passes on the down fast whilst a dead 87 is dragged by 57011 on the up... it is as yet unexplained why some mk4's sit in the platform on the down slow.
a view over some of the junction - a 56 sits in one of the "dumping ground" sidings along side some misc freight. the main line can be seen climbing off to the left.
peeking further round shows a Virgin HST awaiting to depart Crappleton platform 4 once the end of some local freight clears the junction.

A couple of snaps of the plasticard base for the Bachmann shed. As previously mentioned the base is being painted with railmatch concrete.

yes i know the track work is shonky... it is just "plonked" to get general "idea of what will be... my next "event" will eb be building my own platforms to replace the old Hornby items... which given I have the modelling skills of a 1 legged cat will be interesting.

RBML
24 ft x 12 ft Attic based roundy roundy.
DCC : Hornby Elite.
Approx era / region : mostly sectorisation / private odd "heratige workings" area best defined as UK though strange mix of NSE / WCML / S+C pervades.
boards layed in 1990.
dormant mess for too long so Dad and myself decided to JFDI and get it sorted - as young neice is showing an interest in trains so it would be rude not to encourage her.

Ribble Bank Main Line is a fictional layout in OO with a modern image theme spanning mid 80's through to now. I am sure I will upset the purists but I am more interested in enjoying the models in my fictional world than I am hung up about prototypical operation. I will build a much smaller "correct" layout one day but for now this is very much a playground.
The layout baseboards were built in my parents attic space in about 1990 (when I was still 16!) and are basically flat bar a 1:36 gradient about 6" wide on either side to clear the water tank with the 2 main line loops. Originally it was Zero 1 operated but on deciding we would "re-commsion" the layout earlier this year we went DCC.
Rightly or wrongly we have an Elite unit which despite a few annoyances like latching buttons is generally doing what we wish for now.
The trackwork has been changed numerous times however we are working towards a more settled plan.... nominally the "south" bank (half of loop) is under my control and the "north" bank under my fathers.
I have attached a revised track plan for the south bank as it stand today (please click on it for full size) it is not to scale but the length odf the south bank is approx 27ft.
The main terminus station is called Lower Crappleton. This allows for small " heritge/ commuter stations" Crappleton Parkway out besides the main line, and also Upper Crappleton which will be over the water tank to the right of the plan.
On the North bank the layout is still running its old config but my father assures me that work on Twathampton Junction will begin shortly.
This entry is to keep the blog upto date with the thread.... (Thanks Andy for fixing the date issue...)

Well I havent taken a great deal of new pictures for this... the posting time is fudged due to the s/w error on RMWeb atm....
I have made a plasticard "concrete base" for my Bachmann shed and done a little more ballasting.
Painted in Railmatch concrete with some light weathering for the track centres - would appreciate any advice on what I should / shouldnt do to get it just right.

Thinks I might have to actually stop playing trains and try and get some more of the layout built...
Backscenes need to go on tomorrow - if only to make the pictures look better - though you might catch a few pics in my gallery with todays "plonk".
Have done a little more ballasting but for some reason todays doesnt seem to be sticking like the last attempts - which is odd as am using exactly the same pva/water mix. Really should tray some of that Klear stuff.
A new arrival today was 57307 "Lady Penelope" acquired on a whim from the 2nd hand cabinet at Transport Models in Preston. Lovely model - pig to remove the bodyshell due to having more screws in odd places than I have seen on other 57/47 models.
