  1. Hello, New terrier diameter wheels: 15.9mm old tooling Dapol/Hornby: 15.91mm New Dapol terrier: 15.85mm
  2. I received a preserved example of the steam railmotor from Kernow, I decided if there were any left I may pick one up and after they dealt with the mass of orders to send out from the past 10 years, I went and ordered and arrived pretty quickly, overall its a very nice model, lots of detail, runs well, lighting a little bright, some light bleed from the main internal lights, I only run DC so I'll just have to adjust my dimmer... I mean speed controller 😅 https://flic.kr/s/aHBqjBhpZD And a small review: Cheers
  3. Hello, I've been lurking for a little while, mainly watching people pinch photo's off my website and post them here without even asking... lovely... Anyway I have decided to post one of a few models I have built, or modified or designed and 3D printed.. This one is a few years old, and was a design which has been hidden at the NRM in York. This a Bulleid, austerity pacific, dubbed the Q1 Pacific in one magazine which I managed to buy a few years ago (Steam world 1982), shows the wooden model as displayed at the NRM. Some debate on when or what it was for, was it an early Merchant navy or a light pacific... The model has recently been upgraded, and new details added which I occasionally sell.. as its a bit more straight forwards. So here's a few photos: Thanks
  4. Well 1 and 2 almost built and a third half built lol sounds like my workbench after I brought one lol
  5. It's just a painted sample of an old body shell, so its about 6/7 months old now, as it's still not attached to the chassis, which was still a problem back then which was being resolved... unfortunately not the other 25 things which are not right but hey ho... For @ikcdab If you are going to make a model make it properly... because unfortunately those who are in the know will know.. and as a modeller and a person who knows about it... and lets forget the track being 3.5mm and the body being 4mm, as that will never change... and its been accepted... plus people can re-gauge if they want to.. but if you don't do your research is it worth the price being paid. As modellers we always want more in terms of detail and correctness from spokes, to correct wheels, rivets being flush or not, missing end of the day if you don't do your research it will always be a comprise to what you give the factory to make. Plus we all model differently, most accurate wagons, carriages, locos but budgie grit for ballast and Peco code 100. And yes ok we get a model of Leader... great. But for me, and I will speak for myself the errors especially blatant ones annoy me, as its not about cost... just down to research which is available if they look.
  6. As they are 3D printed, they will never be robust... so means you have to keep replacing them more money for them... unfortunately as they are a resin/abs/plastic type material, they will only cope with so much... they will all fail eventually.. this is why I never brought in to the hype of them... now the manufacturers have picked up on them finally, I would say their market focus has shifted to line side details...
  7. Same I was after some a year ago still am... All I was told is these things don't happen over night... a year later they haven't reappeared as they were an Elieen's special... some bits are now with Cambrian on eBay.
  8. They are extremely small mind, there's other photos from the book where they don't show up at all, they may be just about visible on that photo, but scale it down to 4mm, they probably won't be that visible, from the prototype or pre pro, they were rather large.
  9. To keep the cab metal attached to the metal frame however on the front these should be flush riveted unfortunately and shouldn't really be visible.
  10. I have just cleaned up the photo of the black one I can see rivet detail on the front still unfortunately.
  11. A few photos from KRs newsletters looks like it's lost its warts on the front...
  12. Just not very foot passenger friendly that route which is why I never go that way. If there's fog which I see its a possible on the weekend Red Funnel won't run. So only way for me is Ryde-PH and unfortunately no trains so doesn't really work, unfortunately ferries are the death of the island, was supposed to be taking my business to an exhibition but again fog cancelled that so yep I'll be moving this year.
  13. If you were an islander you know its not just down to weather lol As it would be Sunday for me no trains so its a no go.
  14. Sadly won't be attending as trains are not running and due to bad weather I imagine the ferry probably won't be either.. Unfortunately wasn't aware of this exhibition till this afternoon.
  15. Unfortunately they are already in production so there won't be any changes... the wheels seen on the other page are for the production models going to customers. As stated above many tried to help, especially those better connected with research.. they didn't listen. So what we get is what we get... I have even started designing various parts that I can modify the model with, even possibly going as far as a whole new body shell.
  16. Knowing the source of the image, yes that is what is being supplied... as they are in production currently so unfortunately despite being told, and before anyone else says it... and I was thinking it early why didn't I see it on the CADs well they were just pink discs on the CAD no detail on them at that stage. After seeing the image and then a newsletter popping in my emails... according to their newsletter regarding the WD if you can't see it, it doesn't matter... problem is I brought it up in March, as I could see it, and before with EP1. Its almost as bad as getting the wrong number of spokes on a wheel... lol It's just basics... but I am not at all surprised... we all tried to help and assist... we got ignored.
  17. Thanks for sharing Graham, so unfortunately it wasn't one of those things that they were making changes too... Or being sorted... Or to quote a WD newsletter it's more about price than what someone can see... Problem is for me knowing it's there and it's incorrect. Damn shame when in this community we have experts and people like yourself who know what they are looking at and are willing to share information to help make sure this Leader is the one and only model that will be made that will be correct. Shame all round.
  18. So that confirms what I saw on a Youtube video, still has the wrong pattern wheels unfortunately.
  19. I don't think they did, the silver one I think appeared in Jenny's video, they looked like the BFB but they were incorrect, and were missing the backing to the big teardrop shape which then has a hole at the rim end, which I think was what @On30runner was eluding to regarding the plasticard which I may have to join him on that one if it's not changed.... although they are in production now so.... mmm place your bets.
  20. Indeed it always, will, its unfortunate I feel things aren't reevaluated and other options explored, it stops the market moving forwards with better finishes or alternative finishes. As I have mentioned, If that is now their standard, then for me I will have to cancel and and stick to what I have. Either way I am sure what ever the finish they had chosen it would have sold anyway, but there you go... just my view.
  21. Thats a shame I will have to cancel that order thanks for the info I'll stick to my kit.
  22. Much appreciated, sadly a relic of the past these days, and not to go to far off topic and yet staying on Rapido, the O1 also concerns me knowing how much brass work there is on that particular locomotive.
  23. Well we will have to agree to disagree... but I feel the metallic is a bit flat and plain and doesn't give off the same feeling... I just find it lacking, I have been impressed with another manufacturers paint finish on brass items, that for me is better, not overly shiny but has the nice warm deep colour of a polished brass... the metallic for me is a bit dated..
  24. On the 4DD topic I know wrong topic someone said that the wheel pattern was going to be changed.... but again with KR's newsletters and not going in to detail about what small changes they are making it's hard to know. Think it was @Trofimow? But I haven't seen any clear photo's of this change. Just seen on a video the pattern on the wheels at Warley are still incorrect.
  25. Samples look nice, I am with the other guy I don't like the finish on the dome/brass work... compared to other manufacturers who seem to have moved on from this standard metallic finish, one reason I didn't order the one with too much of it on, as I do feel it's lacking.
