  1. Thanks to the large number of people who dropped by to look at the layouts in the 009 village and particular thanks to the Warley club for allowing us to put it on as part of the celebrations of the 009 Society 50th Anniversary. I hope the pleasure and enjoyment we felt in being there came across to visitors and you enjoyed the range of layouts chosen to illustrate some of what we are all about. Julian
  2. I found it a very enjoyable show as an exhibitor and I like the new venue with its airy and bright space. Thanks to Alex fromthe host club I was able to have a look around at other layouts and agree the standard was high. My own 009 layout, Selborne, behaved reasonably well and it was great talking to lots of participants. Thank you, Dawn, for the lovely piece of video. Julian
  3. Mark, Thank you for the information on the A3 closure. The only thing I would add is, f you are coming around the M25, consider using junction 12 for the M3, then along to M3 junction 4 and down the dual carriageway A331 towards Aldershot. Julian
  4. If you like trays to rummage through, I expect the club second hand stall will be well stocked with bargains. Julian

  6. Lawrie of the You Tube channel Lawrie's Mechanical Marvels was present at the Sunday of our show and has posted an enthusiastic video of what he found. I hope you enjoy it too. https://youtu.be/X0g21GA0gng Julian
  7. We got around that one by asking visitors on Saturday to vote for the 'Most Appealing Layout'. Pretty well every layout got a vote or two, but the clear winner was Kurseong, a very fine model of a famous station on the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway. John Crane was the deserving winner. Julian
  8. Thanks everyone for the positive feedback. There were lots of smiling faces on both Saturday and Sunday and many appreciative comments that has made it all worthwhile. It has been an immense effort by our organising team, but worth it to make it a memorable occasion. Statfold is a special place and they couldn't have been more helpful. If you've never been there, do go! Julian
  9. Unfortunately Prescot Aggregates is now unable to come. Talyllyn Railway added to list of Societies attending. Julian
  10. Unfortunately the layouts North Rokeby and Wheal Kist are no longer able to attend. However, I am very pleased to say that Creag Dhubh Summit by Ted Polet and Yurze Ore Mine by Lucien Eijdems will both now be appearing making, with De Niggende Saligheyd, three layouts from the Netherlands. Julian
  11. I can update this as we have just agreed a bus service from Tamworth to Statfold. It has been a long story! Details will soon appear on both the Statfold website and the 009 Society website. Julian

  13. Thanks to all at the Warley club for an excellent weekend with my layout, St. Mary's. The things the club can control, they control well and, as an exhibitor you are treated very well - you just have to accept that the NEC has a way of doing things that is different to most other shows. Clearly there were access problems for the visitors on both Saturday and Sunday morning, but my get-in on Friday and get-out on Sunday evening were generally painless. In between there were many people to talk to and many contacts made - the layout even behaved itself! I look forward to being back next year. Julian
  14. Ah - a welcome Hart Lion's sausage bun (they do all the catering at the show). Before opening time, they wander the halls selling bacon and sausage buns to exhibitors and traders and very good they are too - makes me look forward to the next one already! (After opening visitors need to go to the cafe to eat.) I am glad your visit to Aldershot was a success and congratulations to Redbridge Wharf on winning the 'Most Appealing Layout' vote by the public. Julian
