  1. It was nice to meet you today @big jim. Sorry you had to have a rather moist walk. I tried to get your control to arrange for someone to do the plunger on your behalf but their reply was " The driver will do it." From that I presumed they had already discussed it with you.
  2. I believe it was said, many posts ago, that an additional magnetic NEM coupling will be included with the coaches to fit to your chosen loco.
  3. Hi Jack, Could you tell me where I can purchase the kit of the Porthmadog Harbour station signal box? Would definitely love to have one of these! Cheers Rob
  4. I've made one of my infrequent visits!! I think I'd be the best person to test it to see if it's idiot proof
  5. They all had one exhaust port blanked off as it was quickly discovered that when dragging Pendo's the exhaust gases were getting drawn into the Pendo's air-con system and gassing the passengers!!!!!
  6. Hi Leon, Thanks for the compliment on the 60's. I use the airbrush to put the paint on in the general area I need it and then take it off where I don't with the damp cotton bud. I can't take any credit for the technique, I got the idea off the Model Rail weathering DVD. It's worth getting!! Rob
  7. Use a cotton bud dampened with thinners and rub it vertically down the side of the loco leaving the streaks you desire. I've added a couple of examples of mine done with this method. (Ignore the wonky buffer on Mainline Blue one!!) Rob
  8. Have you checked that you have the two 23mm speakers in phase? If not they cancel each other out resulting in very poor sound output. Sorry if I'm teaching you to suck eggs............ phasing is where both speaker cones move in the same direction when operated. The easiest way to do this is using a PP3 9v battery touch the speaker terminals on the battery terminals and note which way the cone moves and which terminal (+ or -) touches which speaker terminal. Repeat with the next speaker and then connect the 'same' terminals together. I've tried the Base Reflex and gone back to the two 23mm method!! By far the best way in my opinion! Regards Rob
  9. Hi, I was speaking to the 'Kernow Boys' at Model Rail Live! last weekend. They told me that this current batch of fully weathered 'bullets' and the forthcoming partially weathered ones will be the last weathered ones to be produced by Dapol. Apparently production costs of the weathering has rocketed so much that Dapol can not justify the expense! So if you were hanging on to see if the original versions were going to be repeated or new versions released you are going to be very disappointed. Can I suggest that if you are tempted to get some get your order in quick as they were selling well at Barrow Hill. Combine that with the pre-orders leaves not many left for general sale. They are still showing as in stock at the moment, but I wouldn't expect them to remain there much longer. Trust me once you see one you'll be impressed!! Rob P.S. No link with 'Kernow' just a very happy customer and the proud owner of a rake of the latest fully weathered ones!!!!
  10. Hi Jamie I popped in to the museum yesterday. They told me that all of the items that they have are currently in store and not on display to the public. They did say that you can e-mail a request to them to find out what they have and if it can be viewed. The e-mail address is lancaster.citymuseum@lancashire.gov.uk They also suggested that you contact the National Archive at Kew to see if they have anything. Apparently you can also check their catalogue on line. One last suggestion, as I was leaving, was the National Railway Museum at York. Sorry I couldn't get any further info...... and I'd presume you've already tried these avenues!! Regards Rob
  11. Hello Jamie, I happened to talk to Richard, of The Train Shop at Morecambe, about your project. He suggested that you contact the Museum at Lancaster. Aparently they have quite a lot of info about the Green Ayre line. Maybe they could assist you? I'm R/D tomorrow and going into the city centre so I'll pop in to the Museum and see if they can help. I'll let you know how I get on. Rob
