Hello Can anyone tell me what is the black pipe (or bar?) coming from the sandbox then around the front and under the left hand step on this photo of 66215? I took this in May 2004 at North Blyth. There's a slightly better view of it painted white on 66023 on Flickr here. Thanks Simon

Hello everyone I'm looking for any info/references for the anti-glare blackout screens fitted to LNER locos with Standard Group 4200 gallon tenders during WW2. From what I can gather, they were fixed to the cab roof and unfurled and connected to the tender. How were they attached to the tenders? The only photo I can find of the screens is of GWR's 4096 Highclere Castle here: https://www.steampicturelibrary.com/railway-war/second-world-war/locomotive-4096-highclere-castle-wartime-black-19929910.html It appears to be attached to the tender with springs? Does anyone know if the LNER might have used a similar method? Many thanks Simon
