  1. Thank you once again Titan, very much appreciated. I did wonder about it being outside the rail, rather than on the centreline.
  2. Thanks Titan. Isn't this is the AWS receiver on the rear of the other bogie?
  3. Hello Another Class 92 question, sorry! What is this bracket highlighted on the rear of a Class 92 bogie? I took this photo of 92-010 Moliere on January 12th 2006 at Birmingham International: Many thanks Simon
  4. Hadn't spotted that, thanks. The orange one just seemed to be a bit more 'used' and in need of some TLC. It looks a little sad compared to its mate... Simon
  5. Good spot, thanks. The wheels on the orange/blue loco defintely look a lot more worn than the ones on the grey one! Simon
  6. Hello everyone Apologies if this is a daft question, but why do these two GBRf Class 92 locos seem to have different ride heights? https://www.flickr.com/photos/153305438@N06/51369027254/ The orange/blue example appears to be sitting lower compared to the grey one. Thanks Simon
  7. Many thanks indeed to you both, and especially for the extra photos. Very much appreciated. 👍 I've just dug out my copy of 'Locomotives Illustrated' no.245 (should have thought of doing that first...d'oh) and on page 27 there's a set of annotated photos of the fronts of various 66s and it's described as the 'combination coupler release linkage.' Regards Simon
  8. Hello Can anyone tell me what is the black pipe (or bar?) coming from the sandbox then around the front and under the left hand step on this photo of 66215? I took this in May 2004 at North Blyth. There's a slightly better view of it painted white on 66023 on Flickr here. Thanks Simon
  9. Thanks for the replies everyone. I've got a copy of Brian Haresnape's book somewhere, I think. Jason, that looks quite similar to the photo from the STEAM Museum I linked to in my original post. Regards Simon
  10. Hello everyone I'm looking for any info/references for the anti-glare blackout screens fitted to LNER locos with Standard Group 4200 gallon tenders during WW2. From what I can gather, they were fixed to the cab roof and unfurled and connected to the tender. How were they attached to the tenders? The only photo I can find of the screens is of GWR's 4096 Highclere Castle here: https://www.steampicturelibrary.com/railway-war/second-world-war/locomotive-4096-highclere-castle-wartime-black-19929910.html It appears to be attached to the tender with springs? Does anyone know if the LNER might have used a similar method? Many thanks Simon
  11. Thank you, very much appreciated! Nice livery, shame about the suitcases on the cab roof! Simon
  12. Hi Can anyone tell me what the livery is on the fourth loco down on the left hand side, to the left of FL/Shanks 66522, on this poster on the https://railcolornews.com website? https://60781.static.securearea.eu/Files/2/60000/60781/FileBrowser/class66-poster/finalversion.png Many thanks Simon
  13. Hello Just wondering that the small oblong object on the cabside of some FL Class 66's is for? Here's one on a photo on Flickr (not my photo, so I've linked it rather than embedded it), with it to the right of the '8' in the loco number 66418 and under the 'er' in Freightliner: https://www.flickr.com/photos/113420183@N07/21167949324/ Many thanks, Simon
