  1. had a play with the sony lens camera tonight in the shed making some videos, its very good for getting some unusual angles of the layout but its not very good in low light conditions

colas class 70 doing the honors again, i must get round to adding the decals to the other side!

i need to diffuse the green lights on the points display too, still a bit too bright

i'll give it a go tomorrow in the day if i get a chance with a different loco too

next layout task is the 2 sets of points at the other end of the station

Great video Jim, love the class70 in Colas livery....on my wish list for sure!

  2. Evening all

It appears the weather has turned for the worse and decided that rather than gather leaves in the garden (in the rain) I'd descend to Beresford Junction and crack on. I applied another coat of blue to the large building then deceided to fit some of the Knightwing fencing I bought a few years ago - quite laborious.

I've done a couple of packets and have a couple more to go.

Once it's all all install and the glue has dried, I'm planning on giving it a wash of grey paint, then add some weeds round the bottom.

Great layout, the large shed looks great as does the fencing!

    Keep up the good work...

  3. We're looking at a Hornby Railmaster for point control. All the track is powered, all the time. Frogs are switched with the point motor.

One issue with dead sections before points is that they are fine for locos, but what if you have say a Voyager with the powered car being the 4th in line (the 221 is not a centrally located power car)?

    Cheers,

    Mick

Yes I had thought about multi units, I was going to dedicate 3 sidings for them and have the whole siding dead when not set for that road.

  4. Great layout you have here....I am building a similar type fiddle yard myself, which will also be covered by an upper level, just wondering how you are planning to control the trains in and out of the yard, I was going to put dead sections behind each point which are only powered up by the point is set for that road.

    Will follow this closely...

  5. Many thanks Lewis. Just done a little bit more tonight with the advancing P-way. Quite a junction of turnouts on this side of the layout and being the long straight, its the fastest part too. The long handbuilt cross-over is based on CV9.25 turnouts. Suppose I should have had a Kirow crane to install it, but the big hand in the sky had to do.Trying a bit of metal sleeper stuff too,for the first time. Meant I had to create some 'transition rail joiners' as the main track is code 100, the crossover code 83 and the steel sleeper track code 75. But it seemed to go together eventually. Just got to install the Cobalts now, which I put off until tomorrow. Not my favourite job.

Great pictures I like the long crossing.

Do you use cork underlay or direct to wood?

    Thanks phil

  6. As requested, two pics that show the whole thing (and not my overalls :sungum: ); camera at one end looking West then camera at other end looking East. Also the first OHLE mast on the lines going into Sturford Station to be planted.

    Dave

Superb pictures of the layout, some great detail a real inspiration! Keep up the good work.
