  1. @ Scale7JB: Patience? what's that? I'm joking. I'll most likely finish the scenery and then I'll consider installing the likes of those.

@DonW: Thanks for that, I was thinking that but wasn't sure on how as the glue I use has a tendency to peel off under any sort of pressure. I'll give it a try.

  2. Hi,

I've looked at them all and quite like the look of the Tower Models Barclay or thier 02 Shunter which is mainly whitemetal kit with a little bit of soldering for contacts etc aka is acturley Ideal for what I want and would be more confident doing :)

I'll have a look into a Etched wagon kit as that would be good practise for later on :)

  3. PSU? Sorry, I don't know about DCC terms. If PSU is the power pack, then yes, it goes into the DC controller and then power goes though the link cable to the DCC unit as per the instructions. The only track connection is from the DCC unit itself to the Track.

  4. you should remove the dc controller as this will cause the problem and probably has fried the chip...

I know they're not normally compatible which is why a full isolating section has been built into the layout's next rebuild so I can run them side by side. However for some reason, you can do it with Bachmann DC Controllers. You can plug in a one out of either a Graham Farish or a Bachmann Train set into the back of the E-Z command to freeup an extra DCC channel (10) while DC is controlled by the DC Controller. This is because the two are linked via a cable and the power goes via the dc into the DCC.

What I found annoying is Torrington is barely a fortnight old and it somehow managed to fry the chips while being able to run perfectly on the DC only layout. Its wierd so I'll go to Gaugemaster on Sunday and see what they say about it. Ironcially, everything brought that day that's been used seems to be faulty in one way or another (This and Tornado) so I hope that the rest of what was bought (point motors and the isolating section) are fine :S

  5. Hi trainfan,

Your progress so far looks almost complete (and very good) so unless you are going to make the whole layout bigger I'm not sure that it needs an awful lot more doing (maybe a bit of weathering ? ). It also looks fairly full of stock, but keep on keeping on, it looks great.

Well, There's a new control system to add plus there's a lot that needs relaying. A lot of electronic work on point motors etc but I'm happy with it.
