  1. Just been chopping up some scraps of dowel and wooden skewer - then drilling some holes and threading a wire offcut through them.

This lot needs to work - or my cakebox entry will be finished before it starts!

      Good luck!

So far, the wire I used in my test was slated to go to a skip - but I was given permission to take it for my own use.

Different places have their own policies on people making use of stuff that's been "skipped" - or is slated to be - I've always been very careful to stay within the rules.

Returning to the test build, I was trying to work out how to make traction poles for a tram diorama. I know I'll need to "fine tune" the design before there's any point starting a build thread - but I know what I need to do.

However, the basic approach and materials needed will be exactly the same.

I'm taking the line that "rubbish" includes stuff disposed of, slated for disposal (like the wire - or, indeed, like scraps of wood retrieved from IKEA "help yourself to our cast-offs" areas) - also recycled stuff (like recycled packaging or barrels from old disposable pens).

A case could also be made for counting leftover parts from kits etc., but I don't need to do this with this build.

I certainly wouldn't take issue with anyone who includes leftover parts in their "recycled" count.
