Oh yeah - certainly under the bodysides grill on the pic posted. Obviously not the roof though! Looking great Nick.

It’s interesting the ‘dirty end’ of the loco must’ve had a bit of clean in the pic of the real thing - but the exhaust grime is still so ingrained in the panel lines. You’ve captured that well!
 

60s usually have one cab roof covered in exhaust and the other much less so.

Excuse the daft question, but what can I load my Bachmann steel highfit a with? I’ve been trawling Flickr and can only see empties - similarly, the only load on Paul Bartletts site I can see is some wooden crate in one pic.

I’m modelling BR mid 60s period for these.

If we are talking wagons rather than locos I’d suggest packs of multiple with different numbers / slight livery variations would be great - maybe even as big as 10 in a nice bookset…

Of the wagons done so far the 21 ton and HUO coal wagons would get my vote.

Then a 37 to pull them. Pretty please.

I know and I’ve done it! But I’d rather not have to. There are many other things wrong with the Farish 37, and untapped potential in the DRS mods, slugs, car headlight versions - just off the top of my head. Plus endless livery variations!
 

Stood next to the 31 and 40 from the same stable  you can tell there is a decade’s difference IMO.

Really? Be fair, the Farish 37 has been knocking around a few years and lacks much of what is expected from new models. Not least a decent ride height and shape! It looks poor in comparison to the more recent Farish 40 which is excellent.

There’s more than just a couple of different ends to the variants Accurascale are doing in 4mm too. I’d love to see the same upping of standards in N gauge.

Oh and Fran… provision for drop in 2mm finescale wheelsets would be a bonus too!

Personally I think the Farish 37 is due an upgrade to modern standards. It sits way too high on its bogies for a start. If you were to produce the latest nose variations those haven’t been tackled in N, ever. 

92s and 31s are already well done by revolution and Farish.

I love the railfreight logo on the latest HEA. Wonderful weathering Nick as always.

Have you tried magnetic hunt couplings between the wagons at least? That’s the best option for the JNAs I found.

Shame this release wasn’t Mappa Mundi to really set the scene!

This blog article comes up every so often, it’s nice to know it’s helpful! Unfortunately the photos are long gone, snapped on an old phone. I’ve just checked the NGF and a couple of Facebook groups I thought I’d posted them too but no luck.

I’m looking for 2 pairs of the updated bogie frames Dapol used up offer as a spare for Class 66 - I have 2 locos with the original short type to swap. Usual avenues have drawn a blank!

WCR 37688 was on the Marches RHTT today - heard it blast past my house in Hereford  but didn’t see it. Covering for a shortage of Colas 66s, apparently (it was a FL / colas shed combo earlier this week)

Massively informative, thanks for taking the time to document your build - it’s going to make a stunning little loco.

That road scene is really good - you are right the backscene really lifts things!

There is. Basically in order to get a consistent finish, the whole this would ideally do with a spray of varnish. What you use will change the finish - if you use Matt you’ll dull it, gloss and it might be too shiny!

Yup! 

Personally I’d varnish the whole thing again if you worried about variations in finish. It will also double up as a protective layer over the printed lining etc

You need to spray it to get a flawless finish. Brush painting will likely give you another variation of finish under light.
