  1. I have to agree ! The light colour weathering wash Just doesn't look right . This is how a weathered 56070 should look. However, each to their own.
  2. I've had exactly the same issue with ballast glue tarnishing rail tops but it easily wiped off with a cloth.
  3. Looks like you're correct. Here is 37027 arriving at Crianlarich and the central section of the snowplough appears to have been removed.
  4. It's a common method used by modellers which I came across in a magazine years ago. You don't need a spray gun, any small plastic spray bottle will do.
  5. I spray them with diluted PVA and then hang them upside down with a clothes peg. Leave to dry overnight and they come out perfectly straight. I also find that they look best if grouped together as you would find in a lineside situation.
  6. Great layout. BR Blue and a north eastern theme. Wonderful! 37008 was at Sunderland South Dock when I visited in 1981. The other photo is, of course, Cambois TMD.
  7. 75041 on banking duties at Tebay on 3rd July 1967.
  8. This looks like an interesting project although 6ft is not a lot of space to work with. I built Tees Yard WRD back 2015 which I enjoyed building and operating. Surprising how simply shunting a few wagons can be an immersive experience. Good luck with your layout. I'll be following your progress.
  9. Finally got my modelling mojo back after a few months of inactivity. Fired up my favourite U23B and enjoyed a short switching session. Originally, I had intended to scenic the staging track, however, I never got round to it. Somehow it wasn't working for me so I decided to use a road bridge to hide the staging track. This would also provide space to store spare locos and rolling stock. I dug out a road bridge from an old layout and adapted it to fit. Much happier with this arrangement.
  10. Great to see the progress with the 'Northumberland Line', although to me it will always be the 'Blyth & Tyne'. As I'm old enough to remember when the line closed to passengers 60 years ago under the Beeching Axe this is a welcome and much needed project for the people of South East Northumberland. Here is the original Newsham station. The new station will be located about half a mile to the south.
  11. The Model Centre (TMC) offer a sound fitting service where you can usually chose LegomanBiffo sounds. I can recommend TMC from whom you can pre-order. Here is my Inverness 26032 in action with Legomanbiffo sound. I love it. https://www.themodelcentre.com/hel2625
  12. I'm pleased double pressing F6 worked for you. The first Atlas diesel I bought had a QSI sound decoder. It's well worth looking at the QSI manual to discover the features of their decoders. Atlas stopped using QSI around 2015/6 and have since used ESU Loksound decoders.
  13. It's possible that the decoder has gone into 'disconnect' mode .This is done by double-pressing F9 which you may have accidently done. This allows the engine revs to go up and down with the loco moving. Try revving the engine and i you can do this, then double-press F6 which will activate movement of the loco.
  14. I've also done mixed up UK with Austrian railways and a little bit of photoshop trickery!
  15. Thanks. More pics of the US layout 'West Hazleton Transload' can be found here.
  16. I'm a big fan of small layouts and your layout displays some great modelling. It creates an atmosphere of typical rundown sidings of the 1970s/1980s. Three sidings is enough to provide enough operational interest and an immersive experience. I built a 3 siding UK layout and then re-purposed it to a US layout by changing some buildings.
  17. Always great to see your Blyth & Tyne photos. Thanks for sharing. I wonder how much longer the signal boxes at Winning, Freeman's Crossing and the others will last with the current signalling upgrading on the 'Northumberland Line'.
  18. If you can only increase max volume in CV63 to 64 then the decoder is a Loksound V3.5. If you can increase CV63 to 192 then it's a Loksound 4.0, Loksound 5.0 or a Loksound Select.
  19. As mentioned above, CV63 increases master volume. However, if you have an older Bachmann 37 which were fitted with Loksound v3.5 decoders, the max volume is CV = 64. These locos has relatively 'quiet' sound compared to later Loksound v4.0.
  20. Yes, it was announced a while ago. https://railexclusive.com/flyers/Class25Bflyer4pp-sm.pdf
  21. I also phoned this morning to update my credit card and was given the same info as above. I have 25324 on order. Also, took the opportunity to pre-order 25244, of which I took this rather poor quality photo at Eastfield.
  22. Great work with 37011, a loco that I managed to photograph in both BR Blue and LL Blue. I hope you don't mind me hi-jacking your excellent thread with my prototype photos but it's great seeing the locos that I have fond memories of, in model form. Here is 37011 arriving at Glasgow QS. Mal
  23. Great photos, which remind me of this photo of 37027 arriving at Crianlarich.
  24. Great to see photos at Winning particularly 56134 'Blyth Power' on home turf. Winning signal box is still with us today.
  25. I agree that most of the 37s I saw on the WHL did not display faded paintwork. However, in this 37112 displays some fading/streaking paintwork at Fort William in 1984.
