Its nothing to do with BR, these are privately owned and maintained.
Nothing a "little" disjointed about BR, it was very disjointed, especially when it came to the outer appearance of freight stock.

I agree Paul, TBF the railway hasn't changed, it's much the same today
Thanks again for the advice, hopefully I can do these wagons some justice.

Well who knew, BR was a little disjointed and no defined consistent approach to a simple task
Ok, so off I go to randomly throw the decals on and weather the rake. Thanks guys

Your reading too much into it the Hazchem was the guide to contents and till about 1990 grey with red solebar was mandatory for class A products!
So why the difference in the TOPS panel colour? From the pics I've seen the Hazchem/TOPS panels started appearing in early 80's which I'm guessing is when the solebar colours changed to black only.

So building a rake of wagons I've reached the point of decals, off to Fox I went and ordered the necessary sheets, they arrived the next day and then I'm stumped!
The supplied decals for the panels are black text on white background and white text on a black background, why the difference? ... so off researching I go again only to find the following:

https://PaulBartlett.zenfolio.com/trlclassa/e1eac0ff2
Why were 2 versions used, does this implicate something different to the wagons or the contents, is it an indication of where the wagons were painted/refurb'd/converted???
TIA for any answers.

Mentioned briefly before Carlisle Pettril Bridge ESSO, the bulk of the terminal now has B&Q on top of it. But the signals in & out still exist, mainly due to cost of re-signalling to remove them!
Dalston, just a couple of miles out of Carlisle still receives a daily consist from Grangemouth with 3 shunt moves from Carlisle Yard to Dalston. Due to the very short terminal reception line!
Hexham & Tyne Valley Model Railway Group (not technically a club yet)

This is something I've been looking at over the past few years and after much searching for nearby clubs I found there was nothing, so hence this initial group creation on Facebook to gather interest. The area for the group is essentially Prudhoe to Haltwhistle with a view to a club meeting room being setup somewhere in the Hexham area. There was some interest a few years back and even a model railway show/exhibition in Hexham which I think was good and well received locally, with some good attendance figures, however COVID put pay to that show!
So, I'm trying to get a show of interest and depending on numbers there might be the possibility of a meeting space/club house. Anyway, if anyone is interested please follow the link and join up and share your skills, thoughts, collections, layouts etc. Sorry it's only on Facebook at the moment, but website and other socials will be forthcoming. If you don't have FB then please contact me on here and I'll eventually add you to a mailing list when I get around to it.
