  1. The numbers do look disappointing, especially as they are spread over all the livery options.

I can imagine that there's more demand for some options than than for others. I can also imagine that some modellers have some flexibility; I certainly do, so I have written directly to Dave offering to change my livery option if it will help - my layout is a "working steam museum" that allows me to apply Rule 1 with a great deal of freedom. If anyone else is in a position to do so, Dave might find a bit of flexibility helpful.

  2. Hi everyone,

i'm delighted to say that the web site is now up and running.

Orders for the OO gauge APT, N gauge APT (expression of interest) King and Class 92's are there for customers to order.

It is SSL certificated and the payment option to start with is Stripe, and is secure, however the site will also feature Lloyds click safe in a few weeks as this takes a little time for Lloyds to review the site, check it, issue the link software, and integrate it, plus checks.

You will then have a choice of how you pay if you want it?

Pages are still missing detail and pictures and i will be filling these in over the coming weeks.

E-mails will start going to all customers / expressions of interest etc today, notifying them of the situation and the new web  site.

    Cheers

    Dave

That's great news, Dave. Congratulations on your tenacity!

  3. Can i suggest you adopt HTTPS whilst your doing this so the general site is also secure on relaunch and not just the payment portal.

Hmm. Wouldn't want to discourage casual visitors from seeing what Dave has to offer. I know it's not difficult to design the thing so that logging in is optional, but I can't really see much benefit in that.

  4. Just a heads up for anyone trying to order, I see DJM have posted an update on the various pages, but also stated that there remains an issue with payments - see http://djmodels.co.uk/update-on-pre-ordering-our-models/

Might be worth holding off for a day or two until they can sort that one out, as it will minimise the number of people they need to contact!  Been there, and had to do it in the past :)

Probably should've tried again before responding to your earlier post! I can do everything except finalise the order, as suggested in Dave's earlier post.

Incidentally, I'm quite impressed that the system adapts the address fields to suit the country you are ordering from, though it's not 100% clear about telephone number formatting.

  5. Hi Michael,

I am sure Dave will reply in terms of pre-ordering the model, but the account is created when you place an order I think, looking at the site - its part of the checkout process.

Edit, nice clean site btw Dave!

    Rich

Thanks, Rich. That makes sense, provided you can actually order what you want! I'll keep looking, and in the meantime hope for some clarification from Dave.

  6. I can get on to the new website without any problems, and I agree that it looks great. But I can't see how to pre-order a King; I'm just told to contact DJ Models. Can't see how the e-commerce bit is supposed to work. Am I missing something?

And I can get to a "login" screen, which pre-supposes that I have already registered, but I can't find a way of registering. Again, am I missing something?

    (I'm using Firefox browser.)
