  1. Dear all, This is all very interesting and sounds good. I have been given a Romeo to control servos but without any knowledge of programming and working in DCC, I bought a ESU switch pilot for my servos and getting cobalts as well for points control. Those are easy to work with. However I still have this board doing nothing. I would like to use it as a DCC decoder for accessories mainly LED/lightings. I was reading through this thread and many other documents on the web and got very confused: how do you program your decoder (arduino)? Note that I have no intention to control my layout via a PC but via my DCC system(s).
  2. Here is how I started tackling the kit. I started cutting a circle from a 1mm plastic card sheet. It is recommended to use a 2 mm thickness card but I did not have any and if you use this cutting tool, 1 mm is thick enough. This cutter is not very strong. Also the two gauges are inaccurate I had to adjust the radius using a calliper. But at the end I got a good cleaned circled plastic shape. On the left: 4 triangular pieces and On the right 4 quarter circles pieces. The rail profile is made by successive folds. Mock I had to add an edge of 1mm plasticard (2mm = height of a Peco sleeper). The circle, its frame and the rail are securely positioned with masking tape. Once the pieces were in place they were glued on the circle using Evo stick solvent free. The strip of plasticard (with the arrow) is my "in house" track gauge. This is me so far To be continued... Luc
  3. Good morning, For your location you will find a lot of compo specially on night train. Scroll in this thread you may find ideas: http://www.lrpresse.fr/trains/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=25715&start=1680 What is your stock so far?
  4. Hi, Sorry I caught that thread a bit late. For the livery of your loco this may help: http://ffmf.railfrance.org/mondial/5MMR/asoc/zero/vitrin231DOuest_AlainLEBORGNE.jpg Concerning the rolling stock, I would need further investigation. Bare in mind that the french stock in HO is quite limited and rather expensive. Were there any (non-electric) loco hauled specials which would have run from the Nantes region through to the French/Swiss border, possibly beyond? before the SNCF took over there were in France ( you may know that) few companies (PO, OUEST , PLM...) like in Britain (LMS, GWR and so forth) those travels were unlikely to be done. Even when the SNCF took over many lines were running through Paris with a change of station. Again I will need more info about that. Hope this help, but again you may know all this. I am french myself so if you need any translation for the instruction let me know. Like your work. Have you build other DJH kits or is it the first one? Luc
  5. Great bit if info again thank you very much, It seems to be a decent enough piece of mechanics. I am looking for making a chassis for a diesel Bo Bo. The prob is the boogies are side by side without any space between them. Using such a chassis like the ernie one will mean a lot of engineering because I don t think that the non powered boggie will fit under the motor. My safest option so far was to get a power boggie like the triang one or old lima. But they are old and still a bit pricy for what they are. I am thinking about it thank you again Luc
  6. That 's great thank you very much Regards Luc
  7. dear all, I was wondering if anyone has ever removed the body of the underground ernie Bachmann series (not the inspection vehicle but all the other units from the serie)? In other words what kind of chassis/motor/drives is there? thank you for your help? Luc
