  1. I know the 'problem' is now sorted but can you still get British Leyland Damask Red? Bit darker than BR red I think but great for Midland stock.
  2. For me (and a few others) the obvious question is - 'how easy will it be to convert to EM/P4?' I really fancy one but if it will be a pain or impossible to do then, sadly, no sale will be forthcoming.
  3. A nice little show, very friendly with some good layouts and traders and the bonus of 3 'lectures' on modelling subjects through the day. We were there nearly 6 hours (a lot of it taken up with chatting!). Don't miss it next year!
  4. I'm there on Sunday on the Scalefour Society stand, trying to look intelligent and looking forward to discussing the pro's and con's of P4 modelling.🙂
  5. Possibly try Peter Wood in Doncaster? He had a stand at Doncaster Show and can make virtually anything (he reckons!) . www.menp.co.uk I'm considering ordering some industrial name plates at some time soon.
  6. Thanks Dave. I've cycled along the old embankment many times, down onto the towpath and up Balk Lane but not realised that the staithes were opposite. No trace of them now of course - or any photos?
  7. That's all very poetic for the Wakey Express! Where was the Hartley Bank staithe situated?
  8. The one that Chris sells to power the Judith Edge 48DS. I used it to power my Hornby bodied one.
  9. Where are you in the UK? I'm sure someone would be able to point you in the right direction for a local club or dealer. Model railways aren't all that complicated. If they were I wouldn't be involved............................🙄
  10. I've used 'Klear' for ballasting lately and it works fine, dries clear and is easy to apply with an eye-dropper.
  11. I scrapped mine 🙂 But I've still got a Bentley.
  12. I'm surprised that the motor/gearbox unit actually fits! My Hornby one in P4 with a High Level power unit has a haulage capacity far in excess of the prototype!
  13. I feel really hungry now..................................🙂
  14. A long time later I know - but how did this progress?
  15. Got in touch with Chris via a PM here. Hopefully he can help me out!
  16. I sold all my large collection of USA HO stock to Contikits last year. I had no response from several other dealers about the (long) list I e-mailes them. Contikits were the only one who replied with anything like an acceptable price. They came to the house to collect it all and paid in hard cash at the time. No way was I going to go through all the messing about with e-bay with all I had. Doing it this way was quite a relief and a weight off my mind - even if I didn't get as much as I might have done with e-bay.
  17. Really like the L&Y van Sam. I must try and get a 4mm scxale drawing done. Did Chris supply the buffers and plates? I wonder if he could provide 4mm scale ones?
  18. Been trying to contact Chris via website 'contact' but I'm not sure if it has worked. When I hit 'submit' I get a box about number of characters that only opens for a second so unable to read it properly! I tried a few times so if it has worked then Chris has several duplicate e-mails! Anyone else had the same?
  19. KING - no 'S'. A mistake that is regularly made so you are by no means the first. Even seen it spelled wrongly in Exhibition Guides but this weekend's one is correct.
  20. Excellent show. Arrived 9.50 and found a long queue already forming. Got in just after 10.00am and left around 4.00pm so got our money's worth! Met lots of people I'd not seen since before the first lock down etc. and it was good to see how far many of them had come. The place always looked busy to me with a good 'buzz' in the air. Get there if you can tomorrow!
  21. Alan appears to be a Larger drinker😄 Tetleys, Websters, John Smiths, Taylors, Sam Smiths all bitters available in Dave's time frame. A lot of them gone now - in their original form anyway. I was a Wrexham Lager drinker in my youth (mid 60's). In town it was priced the same as bitter, around 1/6 - 2/0 a pint at most. On holiday in Somerset with my mate Ray we went to a pub in Glastonbury and asked for 2 pints of Harp lager. The barman said (in broad Somerset accent) - 'you sure you wants pints?' We responded 'why?'. He replied 'cos its 3'6 a pint'. We had 2 halves😁.
  22. Hmm, could be worth a trip down the A1. I'm not a 'collector' at all but I do like a bit of vintage clockwork!
  23. What a bl**dy stupid attitude. I don't generally 'bite' at things like this but this one takes the proverbial! There's a lot of club members who don't exhibit either so the statement doesn't hold water. I take it the 'someone' is a club member and exhibits a large layout he has built entirely by himself?
