  1. You could be right but they do operate a large number of charters from various stating points in the country using their Pullman HST which must be making an excellent financial return...
  2. Lets hope it can have the modern marker lights removed / indicator panel reinstated to improve its appearance
  3. Just personally - I can't say I'm a big fan of all these new builds - they do nothing for me - especially because as a result other genuine locos get pushed further back in the queue for restoration or back into service if the boiler ticket has expired etc. Each to their own though....

Just saw the latest images - the newly plated headcode boxes are done very badly - do they not look at the prototype? BR arrows too big on the white window ones Cab windows the wrong colour on 55002
  5. I have bought two of these in blue (one weathered). A nice model in my eyes and captures the van well. I'm not very convinced by the factory weathering on my blue one. It has been given a waft of reddish/pink brown 'dirt' but far too red/pink in my eyes. It looks like it has been confined to duties been Dawlish and Teignmouth as the 'weathering' matches the colour of the cliffs there. Was going to add to the factory weathering myself but it looks like I will be pretty much starting from scratch!
  6. It was normally a class 47 forward southbound from York, but very occasionally a 50 appeared as a means of getting the 50 back to the WR from Doncaster Works.
  7. Great to see these are to be produced. Will look forward to them.
  8. Can't say I will be visiting as it's a bit of a journey but good luck with the new shop!

It's essentially the same model but updated for late 70's/80's + preservation
  10. Yes definitely an 04 and not an 03 as explained above!
  11. That could well be true re N gauge and I am sure you are certainly more of an expert than me but I was referring to my observations with their O gauge offerings
  12. Interesting photo because the first thing I also thought on seeing the Dapol release pictures was that the end ladders platform were too low/curved etc. When you look at most pictures, I believe the Dapol model as currently shown doesn't reflect the standard/traditional position for the platform/ladders and most previous models in other guages have the higher platform/ladders. Were the lower ladders a later introduction? (I am assuming that is quite a recent photo?). One thing I will give Dapol credit for is research and if things are wrong they actually take the time to correct them. I must have a look at more old photos the determine what is going on here etc....maybe someone can enlighten us?
  13. I thought Grindley Brook (large O gauge) was superb. Regular train running to keep the audience entertained - an excellent watch - I must have spent 30 minutes watching all the trains go by on a full sequence.
