  1. You could be right but they do operate a large number of charters from various stating points in the country using their Pullman HST which must be making an excellent financial return...
  2. Lets hope it can have the modern marker lights removed / indicator panel reinstated to improve its appearance
  3. Just personally - I can't say I'm a big fan of all these new builds - they do nothing for me - especially because as a result other genuine locos get pushed further back in the queue for restoration or back into service if the boiler ticket has expired etc. Each to their own though....

    New deltic

Just saw the latest images - the newly plated headcode boxes are done very badly - do they not look at the prototype? BR arrows too big on the white window ones Cab windows the wrong colour on 55002
  5. I have bought two of these in blue (one weathered). A nice model in my eyes and captures the van well. I'm not very convinced by the factory weathering on my blue one. It has been given a waft of reddish/pink brown 'dirt' but far too red/pink in my eyes. It looks like it has been confined to duties been Dawlish and Teignmouth as the 'weathering' matches the colour of the cliffs there. Was going to add to the factory weathering myself but it looks like I will be pretty much starting from scratch!
  6. It was normally a class 47 forward southbound from York, but very occasionally a 50 appeared as a means of getting the 50 back to the WR from Doncaster Works.
  7. Great to see these are to be produced. Will look forward to them.
  8. Can't say I will be visiting as it's a bit of a journey but good luck with the new shop!

    New deltic

It's essentially the same model but updated for late 70's/80's + preservation
  10. Yes definitely an 04 and not an 03 as explained above!
  11. That could well be true re N gauge and I am sure you are certainly more of an expert than me but I was referring to my observations with their O gauge offerings
  12. Interesting photo because the first thing I also thought on seeing the Dapol release pictures was that the end ladders platform were too low/curved etc. When you look at most pictures, I believe the Dapol model as currently shown doesn't reflect the standard/traditional position for the platform/ladders and most previous models in other guages have the higher platform/ladders. Were the lower ladders a later introduction? (I am assuming that is quite a recent photo?). One thing I will give Dapol credit for is research and if things are wrong they actually take the time to correct them. I must have a look at more old photos the determine what is going on here etc....maybe someone can enlighten us?
  13. I thought Grindley Brook (large O gauge) was superb. Regular train running to keep the audience entertained - an excellent watch - I must have spent 30 minutes watching all the trains go by on a full sequence.
  14. No updates for a while - hope all is OK etc?
  15. Just to say the air tanks and RHS box have now turned up from DJH so thanks for your help with this.
  16. A fair few made it down from Edinburgh (& via the Tyne Valley as others have mentioned) as the 1980's progressed. They were still very rare at Newcastle but they did appear every now and then....
  17. Yes - had been expecting a new product announcement today - is anybody in the know?.....
  18. 100% agree they are the same incorrectly angled cab windows - I think you misread what I was saying
  19. Surprisingly, it has all been a bit quiet on here after the centre headcode 40's have appeared apart from one message above, even though they appear to be selling really well. Overall I think they have done a reasonable job (apart from the angle of the cab windows as ever but I will fix that as per my work on 40068 further up this thread). The one thing Heljan captured on the original disc headcode version was the slight tapering of the nose at the front (it slopes very slightly outwards towards the bottom) but the latest model is very straight down almost vertical (they made this mistake on the original centre headcode 37 too) - so I think at some point I will be making some additional cuts at the sides of the yellow nose to enable this to be corrected to hopefully make an even better 40. No guarantees of when I will start this work but I will take some pictures as I go this time as some of you requested last time when I showed my modifications. I agree re wonky dominies with delticfan. On one end of my 40155 they are low but I always remake my own in any case so not a major problem. My only other comment is that the yellow end seem a bit too orangey in my eyes so I will be toning mine down/fading it back with appropriate washes.
  20. OK - thanks for that - it would be good to get the appropriate part number
  21. Spoke to DJH re air pipes - they can only supply them if we can let them know the part number from their kit apparently! Anyone any idea what the part number is? I think I will scratch build some myself.
  22. Well they did say they would do the later window frames after producing the early ones first so I am also waiting.....
  23. Nice work as always on a superb layout but shouldn't the number E3607 be on the other end of the Mk1 coach (assuming E3607 wasn't a one off?
