"Built and finished to a good standard"
It seems that Rails is now attempting to join the ranks of our friends Gostude and co, they used to start stuff off at 99p and let stuff find its own level, which always seemed a little high to me anyway, but now everything is top price and sometimes with dubious descriptions. They mustve seen the profits mr Gostude is making!

Some of those loco crew figures look as if they are bashed from the Airfix NATO Ground Crew set.
As for the image in the second link I sooo wanted one of those as a nipper...
Isn't it the Airfix Luftwaffe ground crew set?
-
In Excellent condition, despite 6 of the plates being missing?!
-
The vent van sold at the asking price!

There are some people with more money than sense!

I've posted these joint efforts elsewhere but this forum is more relavant. Buildings are my thing and much prefer an urban layout to a "countryside" view (as nice as some of them are!). Here are 2 of my efforts, albeit not finished. But the cinema is huge so no wonder really.
A bit late but..... reminds me of The Odeon at Scarborough, not identical but has the same look/feel. Excellent.

scalescenes every time!

Our friend in Cartmel has a number of items ending shortly that say qa at the end. This is a new one on me. Anyone know what it's meant to say? Quality Assured? Quite Attrocious? or what? Qintars Accepted (Countdowners will know what I mean)
Once again, "mint" but weathered by someone, and has smoke deflectors that need fixing back on!
-
Price is now set at £1100.00
Which is a much more reasonable figure.
-
Has our friend Gostude changed his name...? At that price I think i'll give em a miss.
surely he's added a "0" or two on by mistake?
-
I've had stuff off this seller a few times and is usually realistically priced and gives a good service. Maybe he thinks its more desirable than it is in reality.
-
It stopped at Totnes as well. Yes it was my first kit built loco from the early 90s I think.Still available here http://www.djhmodelloco.co.uk/prodpage.asp?productid=3067 for £80.Compare that with the new Hornby 42xx.
Unfortunatley with another £85.50 for motor and wheels on top. Great layout BTW.

Harry Welch's on Church Street in Preston, probably the first model shop I ever went in, aged about 10. When that closed we had Trains & Transport near the railway station, I forget the name of the side street, but it was off Fishergate.
I too remember Bradford Model Railway Exchange on Mosley Street as I used to work round the corner in Portland Street for many years. I seem to recall it closing down very suddenly.
Paul
Charnley St, Preston. That was the smallest shop EVER! But always had something to buy.
He had a big, I mean BIG, pile of RMs at i think it was 10p a pop, I took loads off him whenever i went in.

This guy's depressed with recent feedback according to his listing, and wants £23.67 for this Mainline coach. (They seem to have been varying a lot lately from £2.50 to £10 a pop, but £23.67?)
And his anger about it seems to get ANGRIER AS THE DESCRIPTION CONTINUES.
Ah, collectors' value. Fair enough - they'd have gone straight in the skip!
Nice one! Totally agree with you.

Overall this looks a very pleasing model, crafted to a really good standard.
Really? Do you honestly think so?
-
A picture tells a thousand words, we hear. Sure does - and they may not fit with the description. "Runs quite nicely" says the seller. What? With a front coupler like that?
It must be worth the starting price surely..

Not very nice, is it. Although one mans meat is another mans poison.
-
You'd have to repaint them anyway.... but the price?!
-
A typo, meant to be 45 pounds?
i see its been corrected now...£4.50
-
How about some Ratio lineside fencing?
-
Know that feeling! I think ALL of my saved searches now feature "-container" in the search bar. Doesn't get rid of all of them, but does improve matters.
Didnt realise you could do that, thanks for the tip.

One thing that totally gets my goat (polite version) is the ebayer who enters multiple items in completely the wrong section. Thus when I'm looking in Dapol OO gauge I do not expect to find lots of this stuff. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Atlas-n-gauge-rolling-stock-NEW-/350708493410?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item51a7daec62 If this clown posts items in other scales, you need to beware of his terminal incompetence!
Whatever I search for, I usually get loads of card Container kits, yeah you too eh? so now Ive resorted to searching with a minimum price of £1 so i dont get all of the 99p containers.

The seller obviously knows nothing about railways so can be excused for the description/title.

It was the repaired flap on the box that put me off!

and our friend from Cartmel has another bargain, "in near mint condition"/mib.....
only seventy quid plus postage......how much is a new Bachmann 25 from Hattons?

There are a few booksellers who operate like this on ebay, I once bought 2 different books from what i thought were 2 different sellers, paid 2 postages, and they arrived in the same parcel!
