  2. My first exhibition would have been one of the Merseyside Club in the Bluecoat Chambers in Liverpool in the early 60s. I've completely forgotten what layouts were on display; it was a very long time ago.
  3. Looks very nice indeed. The only problem with the plain black one, especially with the late BR crest is that it would almost certainly have had the top smokebox lamp iron moved to the three o'clock position and the one on the lower footplate moved to be in line. How easy would it be to move the lamp irons? Was there any news on when the remaining models are coming into stock? Regards Frank

  5. It was a scouse thing, too. We always called them Mickeys. The house I grew up in overlooked the Langston Dock branch, a rather obscure Midland outpost in Liverpool and one of the namers was seen quite regularly on there, so I presumed it was shedded at Aintree then.
  6. Think Slaters do a pack of brake levers, two long, two short. That might do the trick.

  8. All three vehicles are to pre-nationalisation designs, LMS, SR and LNER. The LMS BG looks to have maroon ends, so it's probably been repainted c. 1965.
  9. True, and it's an easy enough fix. The other thing Dapol could do would be to slightly modify their BR Vanwide chassis, which would give them the standard LMS clasp brake chassis, which could go under a whole range of wagons.
  10. All the pictures of the Dapol van I have seen suggests that it lacks the diagonal strapping that was a very common (but not universal) addition by BR. I had to add it to this Freightman kit

  12. Definitely Greater Manchester. Coverage of Stockport, Stalybridge, Bury, Oldham, Rochdale, Wigan, Warrington, St Helens and even one of Liverpool Lime Street, which is really stretching the word 'around'.

  15. Excellent model. Just a small query; would the nameplates be blue and yellow as they were Leeds' colours at the time?
  16. I know the LMS 6 wheeler was known as Stove R, but did they actually have stoves, and therefore external chimneys like Guards Vans? Iain D has put one on the roof of his model, but the ones that Tony has photographed don't have one and the 7mm one I built doesn't either. Regards, Frank

  18. The LMS conflat is nothing like the real thing, which were highly distinctive. What you've got is a GWR/BR wagon masquerading as an LMS wagon. Imagine if the released a Hall but labelled it as a Black Five?
  19. Thanks, Andrew, I have bought about 5 or so ABS wagons since they were re-released and some parts to help build an Isinglass 3D print of the LNER long CCT. Regards Frank
  20. Hi, Andrew, Thanks for the info. As an O gauge modeller I can only be wistful about the availability of these parts in 4mm scale. Perhaps things will improve as the ABS range becomes available again. Here are two of my lowfits, the BR one is from Slaters, the LNER wagon from Conneisseur. Both excellent kits. Regards Frank
  21. They all seem to have LNER style brakegear but the middle one is a BR steel bodied wagon. Regards Frank
  22. The BR Van looks to be one of the ones with planked sides but ply doors. Quite a few of these had BR's version of 8 shoe brake gear and this is what this van appears to be fitted with. Regards Frank
  23. He was Frank Titcombe. I've been lucky enough to find a few of his kits on e-bay and they make up very well. The one on the left is one of his, whilst on the right is a modification of a Parkside kit to produce an earlier variant of LMS van. Frank
  24. Didn't the original chassis have some weird representation of BR lifting link brake gear? Regards Frank
  25. That is poor. It has the strapping on the body which was most usually applied by BR, and it would almost certainly have had the LMS fitted chassis with J hanger springs and 8 shoe brake gear. So body wrong and chassis wrong. Not got a lot going for it.
