    Hi 55F,

Sorry I do not have any words of comfort for you. I had a Heljan turntable for a short while till it stopped playing. Never could find the fault. So I ended up dumping it and bought the Fleischmann turntable and never looked back.

    This one to be exact.

I am having similar Heljan problems but I understand the Fleischmann one is quite a bit larger 'above' the baseboard' Can you advise the above and below diameters needed please.

  2. I have just had to return 66434 DRS Compass 66 to the dealer I purchased it from: The bogie on one end and one of the 3 axles fell apart in my hands when opened. The dealer fixed the problem - would appear to have been caused by the axle not properly fixed within it's housing and bogie frame not clipped in properly. Mentioned this discussing and dealer came with an alternative problem that also causes them to derail. Close study of both bogie frames reveals that one has an additional notch of plastic protruding on the bogie frame corner (fuel tank end) and only one side. The dealer believes that this notch of plastic causes derailments particularly if track not reasonably level as it comes into contact with the bodywork detail when it (bogie) tries to swivel. I'll try and take a macro photo of it - my eyesight not so good.

  3. Newly returned to hobby and now I have a partially complete layout have tested my ten Bachmann 66s and am experiencing this problem on 66152, 66731 and the 66623 (Ltd Edition). 731 was brand new; other two mint s/h.

152/623 derail in both directions on most points and seems that it is probably that the leading wheel derails on point frogs on the 'curved route'. 731 seems to only be affected on one set of point when the leading wheel derails when about 5mm after the tip of the switch position when loco running in direction from frog >>>switch

tips. All my other loco's with 6 axles are OK eg Class 37s.

Whilst I understand the basic concept of the tips to correct I would find it helpful if someone could provide a sketch please - age related eyesight not helping!

Has Bachmann done anything about this problem - clearly been going on for a long time? Lastly I have heard from a N gauge colleague who has experienced the same with Farish 66s.
