Bachmann 6pin with adapter
Hi, Thanks for the replies to my decoder question, if they had put the PCB at the front I think it would have been much easier to get one to fit.
Many thanks both.

Hi,
Has anyone fitted a decoder to the Janus, I have tried Lenz, Hattons 8 pin direct and TCS without finding a fit.
Does anyone have a recommendation for a suitable decoder.
Thanks in advance,
MickD.

Hi Mevaman,
All blanking plugs are alike as far as I am aware, certainly all 8 pin ones.
I think if it were me I would just fit a Bachmann plug and see what happens, all they do is pass current from track to motor.

I am trying to get to a non DCC Colas 56094 and a DCC sound fitted Metals 56032.
Does a 21 pin blanking plug exist for Hornby as I cannot find this?
I am happy to sell the 21 pin sound decoder and replace it with an 8 pin version for 56032.
Any help much appreciated.
Hi,
Surely any 21 pin blanking plug will fit, does not need to be Hornby??.

Yes, I'd forgotten about that one, but thinking about it, that's a 2-6-6-2, with four lots of gesticulating valve gear and the 14XX is essentially an 0-4-0 with an extra set of trailing wheels. You can't get a much simpler chassis than that.
Being a bit controversial now, given that slow, smooth running is so important for me and others, I for one would be prepared to pay a proper premium price for a model that ran with those qualities straight out of the box.
I am in full agreement with you on this, but I think we will be in the minority after the howls of anguish over recent price rises, which will only get worse as the effects of brexit and the exchange rate come into effect.

I think that's interesting Didcot, but I've had a Friday afternoon model, and exchanged it for what seems to be a Friday morning model. My friend Nick (Brinkly) has had 2 Friday afternoon ones so far (perhaps they're sending all that batch to customers in South Devon?), another friend has also had a Friday afternoon one too, plus another poster in this thread has told us that he's ordering three etched chassis kits for his 3 locos.
Not to mention the other DC modellers on this thread who have mentioned poor running in DC (not mentioning DCC as I don't 'do' that).
The point I made further above is that I know of no other recent RTR model where there have been quite that number of reports/experiences of poor running qualities.
I am already 'giving Hattons/DJM a break' by deciding to get my Friday morning model running better, or providing an etched chassis instead if I can't.
Hi,
I seem to remember there was a lot of adverse comment about the Hejan / Hattons Beyer Garrat in the not too distant past??.

Hi Andy,
Havnt posted before but have been following your threads for years.
You cant have the new layout in Scotland, East Midland buses didnt get that far!!!.
Best of luck with this one.

**Sigh** Too good to be true. When Hattons came to pick it, it wasn't there. Quite disappointed.
There is a Huntley one on Osborn's models web site at the moment, if that is any use?.

Don't hold your breath on it being No.7. I was originally told mine would be N0. 147 but when I looked at the certificate it has gone up to No 296. Very strange ??.

Well that's mine ordered. No problem getting through either.
despite the Nay Sayers this is one model I am looking forward to getting.

Hi Jinty3f,
If you do pluck up the courage,it is not as hard as it seems, and it makes a tremendous difference to the loco.you can see them in a lighted room,as opposed to having to switch the light out to see if the bulbs are on!!!.
