  1. A very Merry Christmas to you all from Oregon. Quite warm and very damp! Shaun
  2. How about a little good news. After years of frustration using the new laptop with it's awful windows11 and lack of an SD port I have had a go at fixing the old trusty Hewlett Packard. The wireless assistant had stopped working, something I've tried countless times to fix before, but don't ask how I managed it this time, just cleared out all the old networks etc. , rebooted and here we are! Because it's still windows 7 I'll just stick to using it for the forum and see if I can edit videos for YouTube. Great!
  3. Anyone wishing to remember Adrian or celebrate his delightful modeling skills should post here…
  4. It is with great sadness that I learned of the passing of Adrian or more commonly known to most RMweb members as Westerham Station. Our online community has missed Adrian’s exceptional modeling skills and never failing encouragement over recent months due to illness. Sadly I learned of his passing on the 18th having received a message from his son Simon. Adrian was gifted with being able to turn various household items into beautifully crafted convincing models, his passion for modeling Kent depicting it as the garden of England shone through in the captivating images he shared with us on various threads of the forum. So, I’m sure you will all share in thoughts and prayer for his family while finding time for your own hobby over this holiday season. May you Rest In Peace Adrian.
  5. It is with great sadness that I received a message from Adrian’s (Westerham Station) son Simon this morning informing me of his fathers passing on the 18th. Adrian was an exceptional modeler and full of delightful encouragement. He will be sadly missed and our thoughts should go out to his wife and family especially at this time of year. Regards to all Shaun
  6. Great stuff Terry. Fantastic that you had some quality time with your son. Must fly my son over in 2024 ( it’s been 10 years). Looking forward to seeing how the J54 turns out, have also fancied converting one!
  7. That’s Mavis, she’s a part time barmaid there when she’s not making webbing for the troops at Arkwrights mill or doing AARP duty. Tonight’s a rare night off and she’s having a couple of drinks to calm her nerves before her Canadian date shows up! Mrs Sasquatch recons I did that in record time probably due to not having a computer on the table. So watch this space. Things might get busy Regards Shaun
  8. The exterior. No guesses as to where this will be placed in the mill town Just the lighting left to do! Squatch
  9. The suspense is over This is another Pettite Properties kit which I’ve had fun with making it up into The Viaduct, probably one of Yorkshire’s smallest watering holes. Interiors being my latest modeling fad I’ll let you be the judge has to what became of all those bits of scrap. Wish I could be in there having Tom pull me one of those 24oz pints with the frothy top. squatch
  10. Ok. Looks like you need a few clues…. The Dapol axeman will be pulling something round, and I have given him a new head. Two in fact🤔🤔
  11. Nah🤔 way off! Although there just might well be some bits from armor kits in there somewhere and I found a good use for one of those Dapol axemen Regards Shaun
  12. The next bit of modeling is underway. Any guesses as to what all these bits from the scrap boxes are going to be?
  13. Townsend hardware got its roof yesterday, made in the time honored way of scribed art paper strips stuck down onto mounting board. Only this time I marked out the capping stones to the walls onto the card and cut the slate strips to fit between the marks. I just might get this finished today. It’s definitely starting to look like a building from that part of the West Riding that I intend to capture. Building a whole town scene is a lot of work but it sure beats the watching the tele. There was some sunlight hitting the layout the other day. Took a couple of interesting pictures Squarch
  14. Hi Julian Does this gadget shrink my worn out finger tips and allow me to think for myself also?🤣 We watched that new Indiana Jones “Dial of Destiny” last night. Really good family stuff but what I want to know is how did the Nazi’s get a hold of that 9F. 🙄 Regards Shaun
  15. Townsend Hardware shop front coming along the façade is made up from plastic strip with the inner shelving from card painstakingly detailed with suitable bits from the scrap boxes
  16. Sorry for my absence, not only have I been a bit sick with a cough etc. but the laptop has been removed from the house after I noticed it had swollen. This is the battery so basically it’s been like having a time bomb sitting on the dining table for goodness knows how long. So it’s back to squinting at the I phone until I can afford a new computer Hope that you are all well Shaun
  17. Beautiful work Jason. Scribing that lot into plastic card takes a train load of patience. Just doing it with a pen into foamboard does me in! Regards Shaun.
  18. Hi Chris. Jason used the same on all those Bacup streets! There are various O scale brick sheets available, I like the Plastruct rough brick. When given a going over with a rough file it makes quite convincing looking stonework. Stonework varies a lot and as you know sometimes to get a convincing look I have to resort to scribing! Like on the station booking hall pictured above. The tricky bit is getting the mortar to look right. Regards Shaun
  19. Late spring is always a very busy time without any chance of modeling! It's taken me ages to get into a rhythm. Mornings it's paperwork and chores. Afternoons woodwork, it's like Santas workshop this week making wooden reindeer and board games etc. Evenings, modeling! If it's gonna be a late one where I need to call Helgium again, then yes, I get a lot done! There may even be another progress report later!! Regards Shaun
  20. I'm not convinced either, it looks another Harry Potter based layout. If I'm not mistaken that's Mark Williams who plays Mr. Weasley leaning out of the end door window on the third coach! "You aint' seen me. Right!"
  21. Don't ya just miss the days, when you could simply let the drop light down and lean out with the camera without dayglo vest man exercising his authority? Here's a front end study of our unusual engine that day. 4MT 42105.
  22. Had about an hour out in the garage actually working on the layout this evening and of course ran a few trains. We had to run to catch the Bradford service from Keighley, so didn't have time to get any pictures of our unusual engine. As our train rounded the curve into Queensbury I pulled the window down and leaned out! Quite how Fairburn 42105 ended up standing in for a failed N1 is a bit of a mystery.. Here we see the LMR's 4MT as it crosses Brow lane bridge. It was a rather muggy overcast afternoon when I took a picture of the station booking hall. After a nose around the village we came across 42105 on the same route with the evening service. We had to run like hell to catch that too! Squatch
