  1. Thanks Sweet pea. It was the first scenic bit of the layout I completed. I adopted the @MrWolf (and others) technique for the water (several coats of gloss polyurethane varnish), I tinted the varnish with Woodland Scenics water tints. The varnish was painted on a sheet of clear plasti-card, which I've cut to fit between the canal walls. The canal walls are 7mm embossed plasti-card, the walls on the tow paths are 4mm embossed plasti-card. Towpath surface is Redutex cobblestones. Best Wishes Clive
  2. 😄Hand of God I'm afraid, or maybe a sister boat. It occurred to me I'd never taken a photo of the narrow boat from the bow end. Problem is it looks as if the boat ran empty both ways. So I probably need to add a removable load, if I'm going to pose it heading in different directions Best Wishes Clive
  3. Thanks for the compliment and for visiting my thread. I'm trying to take more photos of the parts of the layout which rarely get seen on my thread. Best Wishes Clive

  6. This is from the archive, and been posted before, but not in Black & White. Photo taken when the steam locos were on holiday
  7. Andy - I think Neal dis-connected the smokebox speaker, so only using the Youchoos 4ohm Clive
  8. Thanks Rob, very kind of you to say so and for others to agree. I must take some more photos of the layout. Dr Beeching will never find Dewchurch so it is safe in it's own little world. I also need to start building my next tank project. I really enjoyed building the Centurion last year, so have been tempted by another 1/16th scale model, this time the U.S Abrams. Clive
  9. Thanks for posting this Neal. I think there is a huge improvement in sound volume and quality. I think I'll have to do the same. I did replace the tender speaker with a larger flat speaker (so no surgery required, apart from removing the factory fitted speaker). The sound was only marginally improved IMHO. Can I ask did you remove the loco body to disconnect the smokebox speaker ? It is a lovely loco but definitely let down by the low volume on the sound project (for those of us who are fans of DCC sound). I wonder if Accurascale will re-engineer this to fit a bigger speaker in the tender in future releases ? I guess not if the sound fitted versions are selling well despite the volume issue Thanks Clive

  16. Thanks. Both wagons are Bachmann ready to run, so already had numbers. I simply added the BOCM sticker to the van door, and then weathered them.

  22. Thanks John - both white metal kits. the lighter yellow dozer on the right is a Langley Models kit, the darker yellow excavator is Woodland Scenics. The latter is H0 scale, slightly crude casting (so needed cleaning up), but does not really stand out as slightly under scale when sitting on the Loriot. I hand painted Humbrol enamel paints on both vehicles. The yellow dozer was painted in Matt 99 lemon, the excavator in Gloss 69, and then sprayed with Matt varnish. Both have been weathered, the excavator more heavily weathered. I should really chain them to the wagons, but wanted the flexibility to remove them and run the wagons empty Couple more photos (the bottom one taken on Dewchurch 2) Clive
